popgen-notes's Issues

Table of contents issue

Cool book, looking forward to reading it!

There is a small issue with the built-in PDF table of contents (not the TOC on pp 5-6): the introduction to the mathematical concepts points to page 7 (i.e. the initial Introduction), and clicking on it does take you to page 7 instead of 245.

problem with equation 116?

I think there's a mistake but I don't know what the correction would be. Chapter 4 "one-locus models of selection" in the paragraph above equation 116 (justifying this equation), p doesn't equal 1-q at time tao.

Fig 2.11 not in PDF document

I was reading a previous version of this document when I noticed that in Section 2.3.1 that Figure 2.5 was referenced in the text as a schematic diagram but not displayed. I checked for updates, and in this new version it is now referred to in the same manner, but now as Figure 2.11 (on page 18, section 2.3.1), but still (as far as I can tell) not displayed in the PDF, captions also seem to skip from 2.10 to 2.12.

Remark on Summary Chapter 7

Great Book. Thanks a lot for sharing.

I just noted there seems to be something wrong with the 2nd bullet point of the summary for chapter 7 (p. 142). There is an incomplete sentence fragment.

The additive genetic variance is The proportion of pheno-typic variance is the narrow sense heritability [...]

Missing image?

I tried to process the book withxelatex and got an error regarding this figure being missing: illustration_images/Genetic_drift/teosinte/17960129408_21ad0a16f7_k.jpg

fix Fig. 12.8 axis labels and legend

  • currently the x axis ticks show N_e, but the axis label says log(N_e)
  • in the legend, change "passed 1" to "past 1"
  • in the legend, it would be clearer to to write 1 / (2N) instead of 1 / 2N
  • unless I am confused, the references to N in the y axis label and the legend should refer to N_e

small typo

p.45 "birds blown of course" -> "birds blown off course"
though, of course the divine wind blew them off course to colonize new islands
