Adaptive Lighting

  • Please explain your feature request in a one or two sentences.

Is there a way through scripting to enable the Govee light strips to work light the new Adaptive Lighting features appearing in HomeKit and other vendor specific apps? I'm new to this platform so I'm not sure if there's another space where this would have been addressed in the past.
Hue plugin has something started here: ebaauw/homebridge-hue@c656bac

  • Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

No problem, just an enhancement request.

  • Any particular Govee devices that this relates to?

I'm not sure of specific model but I have the Alexa enabled 32 and 16 ft RGBIC wifi/Bluetooth strips.

  • Anything else?

Any questions, please feel free ask.

6109 response issue, 6160 not all responding to group of 3 6160’s

What issue do you have? Please be as thorough and explicit as possible.

#1Three H6160 all in the same room, setup in HomeKit as a group. Sometimes only 2 of the three will turn on with automations or 1 will be at a different brightness.

#2 unsure if adaptive lighting is working properly, h6160’s always seem to be the same temperature. Is it based on brightness level , and not time of day? Govee app always shows the temp slider to be in the middle.

#3 1, 6109, doesn’t accept brightness commands or on off commands all the time.

Details of your setup.

  • Do you use Homebridge (with config-ui?) or HOOBS? HB w/ config-ui

  • Which version of Homebridge/HOOBS do you have?
    v1.3.0-beta.47

  • Which version of this plugin (homebridge-govee) do you have? Has the issue started since upgrading from a previous version?

Triggering a scene changes only brightness or color, not both

What issue do you have? Please be as thorough and explicit as possible.

I use scenes in the Home app to set the color and brightness in multiple Philips HUE bulbs and set a "mood" to the room. It works correctly for the HUE lamps, however the Govee LED strip only changes its brightness or color when I trigger a scene, but not both.

Details of your setup.

  • Do you use Homebridge (with config-ui?) or HOOBS?

I'm using Homebridge without UI, with CLI only.

  • Which version of Homebridge/HOOBS do you have?

Homebridge 1.1.7

  • Which version of this plugin (homebridge-govee) do you have? Has the issue started since upgrading from a previous version?

2.4.0

  • Which Govee devices do you have that are causing issues? Please include product models if applicable.

Additional Notes

It seems to me that my device cannot set both brightness and color at the same time or too quickly. The REST API doesn't provide a command for setting both so it seems that to achieve that, we need to send two requests to the API. A small delay between each call may also be needed, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

I'm more than happy to work on a PR for this given some guidance. I'm not familiar with Homebridge development, so I couldn't find where to add the delay between API calls to test if that would work.

Support for new Govee TV Lights

  • Please explain your feature request in a one or two sentences.
    Could you add support for the H6199 model of TV backlights? Thanks!

Issues with brightness H6182-F1B9

What issue do you have? Please be as thorough and explicit as possible.

Changing brightness fails on most attempts. The homebridge logs seem to return current state as altered, but the brightness doesn’t change. Color changes also fail, but much less often. Sometimes color changes fail, other times the change is delayed by 10’s of seconds.

I can’t always reproduce it, but the control of brightness and on/off seems to get worse after I change the color. See log below. After changing color, the brightness and off failed.

Details of your setup.

  • Do you use Homebridge (with config-ui?) or HOOBS?

Control by BT

Ben, Govee led strip has a lot of wifi issue. Any possibility to control the strips by BT and not by wifi trough api?

Reaching full brightness on H6110, and modifiable brightness curve

  • Please explain your feature request in a one or two sentences.

  • The Govee H6110 light strip outputs at half power for colors that are close to white when commanded through homebridge vs through the govee App. This is understandable since the RGB value that's commanded is [128,128,128] instead of [255,255,255]. The request is to re-normalize the command before it is issued.

  • Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
    I'd like to submit the following idea- that whatever RGB value is currently being commanded be modified by normalizing as follows: RGB_new = RGB_old * 255 / max(RGB_old)

This will allow full brightness in the part of the RGB space near white.

  • Any particular Govee devices that this relates to?
    H6110 Light strip

  • Anything else?

Siri cannot change LED color.

I am able to control power on/off by using Siri on my iPhone and HomePods, but requests such "turn x light RED" do not work. I can change LED color through the Home app just fine, though.

Support for RGBIC

Wondering if there is support for RGBIC models to control each led individually. Is this even possible in the homekit app?

H6003 not changing brightness/color.

What issue do you have? Please be as thorough and explicit as possible.

H6003 behaving erratically. Brightness and Color changing seems to only work sometimes. Also seems that the lightbulb keeps setting itself to 39% brightness. Or at least that’s what the plug-in reports.

Details of your setup.

  • Do you use (1) Homebridge (+ config-ui), (2) Homebridge (CLI) or (3) HOOBS?

Homebridge + confit-ui

  • Which version of Homebridge/HOOBS do you have?

Homebridge v1.2.5

  • Which platform do you run Homebridge/HOOBS on (e.g. Raspberry Pi/Windows/HOOBS Box)? Please also mention your version of Node.js/NPM if known.

Windows Hyper-V

Node.js v14.15.4
NPM v6.14.10

v 2.9.0 Just got the lightbulbs today so I don’t know about previous versions.

Cannot control H6104 with current version (1.1.0), worked in previous version

What issue do you have? Please be as thorough and explicit as possible.

I have an H6104. As the title says, the plugin report error like 400 or 'it is offline' with 1.0.3 but still turned on the light strip. 1.1.0 does nothing

Details of your setup.
Do you use Homebridge or HOOBS?

Homebridge

Which version of Homebridge/HOOBS do you have?

version 1.2.3/NodeJS 12.18.4

Which version of this plugin (homebridge-ewelink) do you have?

1.1.0 currently installed, but as I said it is broken, 1.0.3 worked and I will revert to that as soon as I post this issue.

Please paste any relevant logs below. It helps if you can turn debug and debugReqRes in the package settings for more thorough logging.

If you are posting an error then it is helpful for me to also see the previous few lines as this can show the cause of the error.

On homebridge boot up:

[9/28/2020, 19:56:44] [Govee] [Living Room TV Ambient] could not be initialised.
[9/28/2020, 19:56:44] [Govee] Request failed with status code 400

When I try to control it:

[9/28/2020, 19:57:15] [Govee] [getDevices()] HTTP Response:

[9/28/2020, 19:57:15] [Govee] Request failed with status code 400

New API timing doesn't work with fast applications

What issue do you have? Please be as thorough and explicit as possible.

The new 7.5 second timing results in some events not firing if a scene is turned on and then off quickly.

For example, I have two lightstrips in a closet which turn on as part of a scene when the door opens. I will often close the door before the second light has turned on, and then the turn off events won't fire correctly and the lights remain on.

I wasn't having this issue prior to the timing change in the most recent version.

Is there a way to add color control for LED light?

  • Please explain your feature request in a one or two sentences.
    There's a way to control brightness with long click on the widget, is there a way to add color control (Hue) the same way?

  • Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
    No way to control the color of Govee lights through Homebridge web interface.

  • Any particular Govee devices that this relates to?
    H6159

  • Anything else?
    That's it!

Error: Request failed with status code 400 and un-able to add to HomeKit

What issue do you have? Please be as thorough and explicit as possible.

I emailed support and received my API key within a few minutes, I then installed the plugin for my H6160 and configured using the HomeBridge UI. My config at that point is what is below
"name": "Govee",
"apiKey": "******",
"debug": false,
"debugReqRes": false,
"refreshTime": 15,
"platform": "Govee"

I then tried to add to Homekit which failed as the light was not found, so I looked at the logs and saw a 400 error, While Homebridge is getting the 400 error, I am able to turn the light off/on in Homebridge but I am not able to add the light to HomeKit.

[Govee] [Bathroom Under Sinks] could not be updated and its status will be reverted soon. Error: Request failed with status code 400. (logs are at the end as requested)

so I removed the lines that were not in the example and set my config to the following with debug on and debugReqRes off (I will add the logs at the bottom with debugReqRes on where you requested):
"name": "Govee",
"apiKey": "******",
"debug": true,
"platform": "Govee"

The log messages are below, it is failing with the same error.

...

Details of your setup.
Do you use Homebridge or HOOBS?
I use Homebridge running in Docker on my Synolgy NAS
...

Which version of Homebridge/HOOBS do you have?
1.2.3

I pasted at the bottom an image of my Homebridge home page so you can see all of the versions I am running for the software
...

Which version of this plugin (homebridge-govee) do you have?
2.0.6
...

Please paste any relevant logs below. It helps if you can turn debug and debugReqRes in the package settings for more thorough logging.

If you are posting an error then it is helpful for me to also see the previous few lines as this can show the cause of the error.

This is before I tried to turn the light on/off in Homebridge

H6148 Brightness Issue

What issue do you have? Please be as thorough and explicit as possible.

I have the H6148 model of light strip and when it's at 100% in the Govee app, it shows up as 39% in the home app.

Details of your setup.

  • Homebridge (+ config-ui)

  • Which version of Homebridge/HOOBS do you have?

    • v1.1.7
  • Which platform do you run Homebridge/HOOBS on (e.g. Raspberry Pi/Windows/HOOBS Box)? Please also mention your version of Node.js/NPM if known.

    • macOS High Sierra, Node 14.15.4
  • Which version of this plugin (homebridge-govee) do you have? Has the issue started since upgrading from a previous version?

    • v2.5.2
    • I literally set this up last night and it's been this way from the start.

I'm pretty sure this is a super easy fix. It appears that my model number isn't included in modelsNoScaleBrightness. So I believe if you add H6148 to it, everything should work great. Thanks for making this plugin!

H6141 Brightness issue

I'm using an H6141. At 100% brightness in the Govee app (iOS), Apple Home shows 39% brightness. If I try to set the brightness above 39% in Apple Home, homebridge logs the following error:
"[Govee] [Cabinet lights] could not be updated and its status will be reverted soon. Error: Request failed with status code 400."

Setting it to something less than 39% in Apple Home does reduce the brightness in the Govee app. I can move it up and down within the range of 0 - 39%.

Do you use Homebridge or HOOBS?

Which version of Homebridge/HOOBS do you have?
Version 1.1.6
...

Which version of this plugin (homebridge-govee) do you have?
homebridge-govee v2.0.7.

Please paste any relevant logs below. It helps if you can turn debug and debugReqRes in the package settings for more thorough logging.

This was after bumping the brightness in Apple Home to 50-something percent...

Error 400

What issue do you have? Please be as thorough and explicit as possible.

Im using the Homebridge-Govee, but im getting the error 400 when using my TV-Strip #6104 over 39%.
It seems like 39% in HomeKit is 100% in Govee - so when I go over 39% it just gives up.

Details of your setup.

  • Do you use Homebridge (with config-ui?) or HOOBS?
    Im using Homebridge - installed directly and NOT through HOOBS

  • Which version of Homebridge/HOOBS do you have?

To be honest, im not sure what version it is other than its through MacBook Pro.

  • Which version of this plugin (homebridge-govee) do you have? Has the issue started since upgrading from a previous version?
    I just downloaded and installed it - so it would be the latest id think - homebridge-govee v2.2.0

  • Which Govee devices do you have that are causing issues? Please include product models if applicable.
    #4106 - tv strip with camera (Govee ofcourse)

[12/1/2020, 3:28:02 PM] [Govee] [TV Baggrund] could not be updated and its status will revert soon - Request failed with status code 400.

I hope you have enough to help me. I would really like for it to match the 100% . Other than that, great work!! I can't believe I FINALLY managed to Govee into other places than just Alexa!!

Would it be possible to expose Govee themes to homekit?

Hi, First of all I just wanted to say Thank you for your hard work and effort in making a plugin it really is appreciated. As my title suggests the lights within the Govee app have a multitude of themes to select based upon moods or viewing preferences and wondered if it would be possible to have these themes somehow show in Homekit? Thanks again and I look forward to your response.

Govee Light Strip turns on then changes brightness

What issue do you have? Please be as thorough and explicit as possible.

When an automation turns on my Govee light strip, it turns on first and then changes settings second, so if it's at night it might be very bright white at first before switching to it's dim red settings.

'externalUpdate' and 'eveService' error logs with v2.11.0 upgrade

What issue do you have? Please be as thorough and explicit as possible.

On my central Homebridge log status dashboard, I am seeing a flood of the log entries below for the 4 switches I have from Govee ever 10-15 seconds. After trying to trace down which specific version this issue it started from by reinstalling previous versions, this only came up on v2.11.0. I had to downgrade to avoid the Homebridge log cluttering up.

Update on/off/color Issue

What issue do you have? Please be as thorough and explicit as possible.

When using the Govee app it controls the strip as usual, however in HomeKit it does not control on/of or change color, or if/when it does it lags a while behind (15-30 seconds approx). More often than not it doesn't update the brightness on/off or color though. I originally thought there was a wifi issue so I disabled bluetooth on my phone and tried again. Anyway, I turned debug on as directed in prior posts, and thought it was interesting it was getting an online true message, but then received "ignoring above update"

I also read in a previous post of yours that there are small delays 750ms , 1500ms built in.. Are these between each of the commands if multiple are sent? Or any command period? i.e. if brightness is set wait 1500ms then send.. etc. Perhaps I was sending commands too quickly; although I don't think thats the issue as I opened the home app after a while of not using, and attempted to adjust the brightness and it did not work.

What issue do you have? Please be as thorough and explicit as possible.
I have the H6117 model and the brightness sticks to 39% in HomeKit. Even though I know the lights are @ 100%. Moving to 100% in HomeKit will stay for a few seconds and then go back to 39%. I suspect it's the same issue as some of the other models.

Also,my 6148 seems to not respond to HomeKit automation. I had this set to turn off at a certain time and it didn't. It also appears to start flashing different colors randomly and I go into the Govee app to find it somehow was switched to "Scene" mode. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks for all your work on this plugin!! I appreciate it!
