In BNO005.py line 241 , "if i2c is None:" should be "if i2c is not None:".
The default i2c busnum
used by this library on the BeagleBone should be 2
as pins P9_19
(I2C2_SCL
) and P9_20
(I2C2_SDA
) are accessed via the device /dev/i2c-2
.

Thank you for opening an issue on an Adafruit Python library repository. To
improve the speed of resolution please review the following guidelines and
common troubleshooting steps below before creating the issue:
Do not use GitHub issues for troubleshooting projects and issues. Instead use
the forums at http://forums.adafruit.com to ask questions and troubleshoot why
something isn't working as expected. In many cases the problem is a common issue
that you will more quickly receive help from the forum community. GitHub issues
are meant for known defects in the code. If you don't know if there is a defect
in the code then start with troubleshooting on the forum first.
If following a tutorial or guide be sure you didn't miss a step. Carefully
check all of the steps and commands to run have been followed. Consult the
forum if you're unsure or have questions about steps in a guide/tutorial.
For Python/Raspberry Pi projects check these very common issues to ensure they don't apply:
If you are receiving an ImportError: No module named... error then a
library the code depends on is not installed. Check the tutorial/guide or
README to ensure you have installed the necessary libraries. Usually the
missing library can be installed with the pip
tool, but check the tutorial/guide
for the exact command.
Be sure you are supplying adequate power to the board. Check the specs of
your board and power in an external power supply. In many cases just
plugging a board into your computer is not enough to power it and other
peripherals.
Double check all soldering joints and connections. Flakey connections
cause many mysterious problems. See the guide to excellent soldering for examples of good solder joints.
If you're sure this issue is a defect in the code and checked the steps above
please fill in the following fields to provide enough troubleshooting information.
You may delete the guideline and text above to just leave the following details:

In _write_bytes() in BNO055.py, the response from the serial send function is being checked regardless of whether ack was set to True. Might be the source of some register write error exceptions!
Since you can talk to the IMU via a serial connection, I have successfully used it on OSX. Mabe Windoze will work too? However your setup file requires Adafruit-GPIO which won't install on OSX because of spidev looking for linux header files. Is there a way to conditionally change this (or maybe Adafruit-GPIO ) so BNO055 package will install on OSX? It would be nice to stay up to date via pip
rather than me manually checking for updates to this package.
Hi,
I just followed the instruction and installed the BNO055 Python Module on Raspberry Pi Zero. However, when I tried to run the simpletest.py, it showed "RuntimeError: Register read error: 0x6e06". It seems that it tried to read data from a non-existing register. If I keep running the simpletest.py several times, it may work a few seconds and then show another "Register read error" again.
Could you please tell me whether there is anything I can do to solve this problem?
Thanks a lot.
Could you help me in how can I modifify the sympletest.py in order to print the Temperature of the sensor and Linear acceleration reading for the X, Y, Z axis (in meters per second squared). Thank you in advance. Daniel
