Notification icons for Gingerbread not included in zip file

The icons generated at
http://android-ui-utils.googlecode.com/hg/asset-studio/dist/icons-notification.h
tml can be downloaded as a zip file.

Steps:
1. Generate your icon
2. Download the zip file
3. Unzip the file
4. Look for drawable-hdpi-v9, drawable-mdpi-v9, drawable-ldpi-v9
directories/assets.

Observed:
No such directories or assets found.

Expect:
Assets for Gingerbread in the correct directories.

Increase color sensitivity of image import

Currently importing an image appears to scan the image for approximately
non-white/transparent images, and replacing them with black.

E.g. the attached image is that of the alarm clock ic_lock_idle_alarm.png and a
menu icon made out of it.

The resulting menu icon does not have hands on the clock.

It would be really good for the app to do whatever treatment of the source
image so a little more detail is visible in the resulting assets.

Resize for ldpi, mdpi, hdpi

I am not a developer but I am quite bad with design.

I liked the resize of resources you have in the web but I would like to have
some sort of console access to automatically resource everything.

Clipart or no background

Currently, all icons need either the square or round background. For some icons
this is not appropriate or wanted.

It would be good to be able to choose different shapes (maybe from the clipart
itself) or choose to have no background at all.

Allow editing of color # in fg/bg color pop-up

Currently the # value of the color in the color chooser popup for foreground
and background colors seems to be uneditable.

It could be useful to allow this to be an editable field so a color could be
entered quickly using the # text area instead of entering each separate value
in each separate box.

Button stencil has semi-transparent central section

What steps will reproduce the problem?
Drop a button stencil in Pencil.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
One expects to have an uniformly transparent (or opaque, in this case) button,
but the central section of the button stencil is semi-transparent and the sides
are fully opaque. See attachment.

Please provide any additional information below.

Would be useful to enable Google Web Fonts for all the tools where you can

Generic icon generator

Sometimes I need icons with transparent backgrounds (encoded as pngs, of
course). Also, a scaling factor would be nice to have for custom menus and
whatnot. I need larger-than-standard icons, sometimes.

Can't import *.zip

Hi I just download stand alone Pencil 1.2, I also downloaded featured *.zip
files.

But I can't import it to Pencil. Instruction might need update, as I can't just
drag and drop it to Pencil.

Support for action bar and dashboard icons

More and more applications are adopting the new Android UI patterns as
introduces by the Twitter and Facebook for Android apps. These are even
introduces officially by Google
(http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2010/05/twitter-for-android-closer-look-
at.html) and open-source sample code is available via the Google I/O schedule
app (http://code.google.com/p/iosched/).

It would be nice if the Android Asset Studio would support the icon generation
for the Action Bar and Dashboard patterns. This would further increase interest
and adoption of these UI patterns - improving Android's general UI platform
feel.

Is there an action bar control planned for the Pencil stencils?

Support both 2.2 and 2.3 menu icon styles

Hello, Since Android 2.3 has been released I cannot use your asset studio for
menu icons anymore, because it generetes them with more padding, so they are
smaller on Android 2.2 and earlier. Could you please generate both sets as you
do with Notification icons?

Minor: Star Clipart not working

The star clipart in any section is not displayed correctly in the previews.

After saving the picture, the "psychedelic star" also appears in the picture.

Appears to me that the drawing path (vectors) of the clipart-shape is wrong at
some point.

Awesome work by the way, Android is definitely lacking good tools to allow devs
create a consistent look and feel. thx

Specify the required attribution as per the Creative Commons license

View an Android Asset Studio web page such as
/asset-studio/dist/icons-tab.html: at the bottom it specifies that the
generated art is subject to Creative Commons Attribution license.

There should also be a link to instructions from the Android Asset Studio team
which define the attribution (if any) that receivers of the generated art
should implement in their products.

Aliased Icons

When I used the asset studio a long time ago (used it right after the project
got public), the icons worked really good, nicely smooth icons.

Now, and I noticed this quite some time ago now (6 month), every icon I make is
aliased. It doesn't matter if I use Chromium (12.0.742.91 (87961)) or Firefox
(4 and 5).

I am on Ubuntu 11.04 but IIRC this also happend with 10.10

Thx

Image file names are incorrect (unselected vs. selected)

- Go to create tab icons
- start filling out fields
- look at preview of the output images. Looks great. Selected icons have
white fill.
- Download the icons. Look at the files. Selected icons have *gray* fill.
The selected filenames and unselected filenames are inverted!

Asset Studio cannot match built-in Android menu icon size

Asset Studio includes padding when generating menu icons, so that, for example,
an mdpi icon will actually occupy no more than 32 of the 48 available pixels.
This may jibe with recommended guidelines, but does not allow the user to match
the size of, for example, Android's own ic_menu_info_details icon, a circle
which is 36 pixels at mdpi, four pixels being a noticeable difference of about
10%. Unless I am missing something, there does not appear to be a way to
override this padding (I thought perhaps the "don't trim" option would work,
but it doesn't.)

Support for 512x512 launcher icons.

The new market changes require 512x512 launcher icons.

If I'm generating nice shiny icons with this tool, I'd also like a version that
is 512x512.

Dialog Backgrounds

It would be nice to have the dialog background available as part of the
stencils.
You should be able to set the title text at least. The rest of the different
dialogs seen in android can be created with buttons and list views that are
already included.

Thanks

styles.xml + theme generator

It would be great to allow creation of an entire styles.xml +
button/edittext/spinner/etc graphics for quick and easy theming of apps. Kind
of like jQuery UI's theme roller.

This is a massive effort, but may be well worth it.

It would be nice if the Launcher icons:

background, without the button look.

New game

Interactive game both live & vr if supported with gaming glasses. Business
plan includes various games, all family friendly, and designed for maximum
fun... All this will be tied into various items to be sold online & in-person
(live) before, and after the game. Business plan also includes giving prizes
away during, and at end of each game based on what they are playing. Huge
potential for generating co-opted marketing, where new revenue comes from all
angles. My plans have never failed to deliver results in real world settings.
This is not just another idea or game that will die fast, but will expand
globally quickly with a good support staff, and leader.

I plan to present this game to both Apple & Google, and various other
competitors before Dec. of 2011, so a launch date can be set for April, 2012.

'Tiled' Button Format Generator

Your launcher icon style is FANTASTIC for displaying information on a button.

My request is for variable, or incremental, pixel height to help generate tiled
buttons for different screen sizes.

Android apps are not as button-intensive as mine, but you are likely to see
more of the tiled button format in larger screen functional applications (think
app 'home' screens, Kiosks, and washing machines). Your launcher icon format
would make an EXCELLENT Android Standard for these applications. The attached
screen shots compare my old buttons (very similar to android's default button)
and a button created with your launcher icon in blue.

Functionality Request:
Variable, or incremental, Pixel Height and Width. Generate tile-style buttons
in three sizes.

I wish:
Automated 9-patch generation in the three sizes
Concave (or other) Shading for 'pressed' button state

Thanks for making my app look great!
