Hi! I love this keyboard but how to change from QWERTY layout to AZERTY please? As French, it's a bit annoying to use EN layout. Thank you.

LeanKeyKeyboard

1. Works fine with Firefox browser for FireTV 4.71, on FireTV.
   The on-screen keyboard is displayed, according to the settings

2. With "Downloader" browser

   The on-screen keyboard is not displayed, despite the settings.
   However I may enter keys by a USB keyboard attached by OTG splitter cable.

3. However, it does not work properly with with "Amazon Silk" browser on FireTV.
   The on-screen keyboard is displayed, but if I enter keys by USB keyboard or by clicking with the virtual cursor of my Firestick remote control, the URL at top of screen doesn't change.
   If I press the "Start" button on the on-screen keybord, the data is transfered but the URL does not change.
   I was able to use Google "blindly", but it was a mess.
   Just have a try for yourself, I dont know how a screenshots might support my bad user experience, so no screenshot

For comparison, 2+3 work fine with "Hacker's Keyboard"

Technically, I was able to install, enable and set LeanKeyKeyboard properly for FireTV,

1. Install LeanKeyKeyboard
2. Installation of the "Remote ADB Shell" on an extra smartphone
3. Enable it
   ime enable org.liskovsoft.androidtv.rukeyboard/com.liskovsoft.leankeyboard.ime.LeanbackImeService
4. Set it as standard keyboard
   ime set org.liskovsoft.androidtv.rukeyboard/com.liskovsoft.leankeyboard.ime.LeanbackImeService

The size of the keyboard is very tiny on some screens. This is an example of a screen with the dimensions 1024x600 on default display size:

Also the highlight color of a selected key makes, in certain circumstances, a highlighted key very hard to spot.

Is there any possibility to change the highlight color? Or please point me to the file where the highlight color is configured.

Do you have in plan to add Croatian keyboard?
Is that massive job?

This is first keyboard I find after whole day searching that support set top box installation.
Regular keyboard have problem of closing when going with arrow down to go from search box on top of screen to OSD keyboard to the bottom.
Asume, they are planned for mobile devices and swipe down closes keyboard.

And it is beautiful and responsive as Android TV GBoard instead of ugly and slow, english only GBoard for AOSP STB's.

I want to suggest adding a switch button to the next keyboard installed in the system. I think this decision on some Android TV will be a very good assistant. For example, there are clipboard applications that have their own keyboard for convenient work with the clipboard, but there is no possibility to switch to it from LeanKeyKeyboard.
Well, or add the "paste from clipboard" button in the LeanKeyKeyboard.

On AndroidTV Nougat when you click on the LeanKeyKeyboard banner it says Android Manifest error.
Is it possible to make it just do nothing when opened or open the Language Input Settings in Android instead?

Hi,

When the option is selected to remove from the launcher, it's impossible to access the settings without a full reinstall. Pressing the world icon on the keyboard only brings up languages.

Problem:
I cannot use keyboard when remote tv client is connected to TV.
Only a bar with message "use the keyboard on your mobile device" is shown.
I want an option to ignore the connected device and use LeanKeyKeyboard simultaneous.

Solution:
Add checkbox to allow actively showing keyboard even when remote app is already connected to TV.

Additional info:
The message might be misleading.
I have a home automation system that is using Android TV remote service for control.
I'm not necessary actively using Google Home (or any other 3rd party that also rev.eng. the protocol) app on the phone atm.

Here in Brazil is very common various Android TV Boxes that not only gives us access to IPTV but also makes our living room a multimedia center, but unfortunately them all ships with Android AOSP Keyboard which is horrible for TV navigation through controller.

With that in mind, I think it would be very good to have the Brazilian Portuguese option for languages (with the correct dictionaries). I'm also capable of helping to make this happen!

Hi, is it possible to add an ABC-keyboard? Currently only azerty & qwerty seem to be supported.
Or am I wrong?

Is there a way to go to the next line when typing a document?
Eg. you type a text document in ES File Manager on AndroidTV Nougat/Oreo, now you want to go to the next line.
Can another character be added for such a thing to work with an ir remote?
Or if you use an airmouse with a keyboard on the other side, if you press Enter, can it go to the next line, at the moment Enter key has no action in a text file? Maybe it is an AndroidTV bug, not sure.

Don't work switching between symbols and letters in version 5.2.15. I can switch to symbols, but when I click "abc" for switch to letters it doesn't work.

This is less important, but icons with an increased size look bad.

When some text is selected, pressing the backspace key deletes the unselected character before the selection, leaving the content of the selection unaltered. It should delete the selected characters instead of the character preceding the selection.

There is no support for remote control "back" button (A4TV). It's not possible to close the keyboard and cancel input.

Добрый день. Мне кажется, что я догадываюсь о причинах такой реализации. Потому что моя виртуальная клавиатура начинает вести себя неадекватно после requestHideSelf(BACK_DISPOSITION_DEFAULT) - при фокусе на текстбоксе периодически не появляется на экране, как будто View не перерисовывается и находится где-то за активностью с текстбоксом. Другими способами прятать клаву не получается. Я попробовал добавить поддержку этого функционала в Вашу клавиатуру, получилось то же самое поведение. Если можно, очень хотелось бы услышать Ваше компетентное мнение, по поводу того, как правильно обработать нажатие кнопки "back" и убрать клавиатуру временно с экрана без последующих проблем с появлением и перерисовкой.
Если же причина отсутствия поддержки нажатия "back" в чем-то другом, то все равно буду очень благодарен Вам за какой-нибудь совет по этому поводу.

The setting of "Activate Keyboard" does not work on Amazon Fire TV devices.

In order to activate this keyboard on a Fire TV device you need to run two ADB commands on the device:

1. ime enable com.liskovsoft.leankeyboard/.ime.LeanbackImeService
2. ime set com.liskovsoft.leankeyboard/.ime.LeanbackImeService

Can you add the ability to identify if the keyboard is installed on a Fire TV device and then when clicking the Activate Keyboard it will run these two commands in the backend?

Would be great if this could be listed in fdroid.

I'm using G20 keyboard with my Nvidia Shield 2017. The G20 registers the OK key as ENTER key so I'm using Leankey keyboard. The LeanKey keyboard works while typing in PlayStore but ut doesn't register the OK key in the Twitch app. Any ideas?

In English you can long press on letters eg. 'e' to show the letter with special characters and choose which one you want.
But in other languages, if long pressing on letters, it doesn't show special characters for the letters or do anything.

At any point beyond 1000 characters, the arrow keys stop working as expected. The right arrow key takes you back to between characters #1000 & #1001, and the left arrow key takes you back to between characters #998 & #999. It's as if it thinks it's starting between characters #999 & #1000, no matter how far past that you are.

I think this program is very good beyond the Google Keyboard.

But, I have a problem only one.

This apk is not supported in Korean Keyboard Method.

LeanKey App and all language packs show up in the "Apps" row in the Leanback launcher, even though they are not supposed to be executed as normal applications.
This happens because the app itself and language packs have LEANBACK_LAUNCHER intent indicated in the manifest.
Please remove the following line from AndroidManifest.xml of the app and all lang packs:
<category android:name="android.intent.category.LEANBACK_LAUNCHER"/>

I think it would be very helpful for the users of Amazon Fire TVs to have support for the Remote button Shortcuts

In case you didn't know what they are:

Menu button - Caps lock on/off

Play/Pause - Enter

Back - Cancel

Fast Forward - Space

Rewind - Delete

You can also use D-pad left and Right to move the cursor back and forth.

Of course This should be an option to enable in settings as it may not be compatible on Non Fire TV devices and/or some people may not want it.

I think it would be really good if you added Japanese Keyboard inputs to LeanKey.

I'm trying to make firmware for a tv box. And there was such a problem that if this keyboard is the only one in the system, it still does not turn on automatically, but you need to select it in the settings.

On Android TV firmwares LeanKeyKeyboard Pro (last 4.3.26 and previous releases) not always allow to switch to default language (EN). For example, in Nord VPN app when on Log In screen, I need to enter email, keyboard pops in Russian (system) language, and I can't switch to English by pressing Globe icon. If there is other additional languages defined (for example German) it pops as German layout and switched between German and Russian, but not English. As a fix, if we will have English in Language chooser as an option (selected), will it help avoid this bug? Seen this behavior in other apps / input fields too.

I did not use this kbd on my shieldtv with google services so the mic button does nothing. Is there a chance to disable it if needed or when the app does detect that there are no services for that?

I want to use it on android tv. Is it possible to make the keyboard not in the floor of the screen, but as in the built-in keyboard from the bottom to the center?

Voice search uses only current system language. That say if I use Russian as system language and trying to search something with English voice search - it gives me bogus results

I keep getting the error:

Can you please enhance the LeanKey Keyboard to include functions such as Select All or Select row , Copy, Paste from Clipboard , Go back buttons within the Keyboard so that Google TV users can utilize this feature. Currently this keyboard "Paste from Clipboard" button but there is no button to Copy to Clipboard or Select specific rows etc. It will be really helpful. Awaiting the update.

I would realy love if you add support for a Swedish keyboard. This app works realy well on Nvidia Shield but I am forced to use English since there is no support for Swedish.

This keyboard was a blessing as it allows me now to use and click on letters with a mouse on Nvidia Shield.
There is an Arabic version available but no Persian! The letters are they same for both languages except there are 4 extra letters in Persian (If I'm not wrong). Is there any chance you can release a Persian version please?

Most of the layouts included with this keyboard have a paste button, but not many Android TV apps support copying anything to the clipboard. I like the paste button, but it would be so much more useful if there was a copy button on the keyboard too. Thank you.
