builder's Issues

"Enter your js here!" popup box appearing with WPBakery (formerly Visual Composer) to v. 6.10.0 update

After updating WPBakery (formerly Visual Composer) to v. 6.10.0, a popup box appears every time one goes to the orindachamber.org homepage

Expected behavior
No popup.

Desktop (please complete the following information):

  • OS: [e.g. iOS] Windows 10
  • Browser [e.g. chrome, safari] Chrome
  • Version [e.g. 22] Version 106.0.5249.119 (Official Build) (64-bit)
  • the issue occurs with Edge and Firefox as well

Smartphone (please complete the following information):

  • Device: [e.g. iPhone6] Samsung Galaxy
  • OS: [e.g. iOS8.1] Android
  • Browser [e.g. stock browser, safari] Chrome 106.0.5249.126
  • Version [e.g. 22] Android 12

Additional context
There are two Raw JS blocks being used on the homepage. This plugin is included in the Highend WordPress Theme. I have contacted HB-Themes for a week with no reply. This has not happened with previous plugin updates, Nothing else on the website has changed. I need either the previous version of the plugin or an update to the current version that will get rid of the popup box.

Fatal Error On Install: 'Composer Missing exif'

Describe the bug
When installing VC via WordPress and the .zip, I get a fatal error that returns the platform_check.php error on line 11, for $missingExtensions 'exif'

"Your Composer dependencies require the following PHP extensions to be installed: 'exif' "

When searching composer for exif only option that returns is, 'miljar/php-exif v0.6.5' which, still returns the same error. (didn't think it was the right one, or even required; but figured I would give it a shot.)

So, currently not able to install Visual Composer.

To Reproduce
See above for installing

Expected behavior
Install VisualComposer, without vague missing dependencies.

  • OS: WordPress (5.5.3) is running on a Linux, running PHP v 7.3, Maria 10+
  • Browser: Not really relevant: FireFox 85.0.2
  • Version: VC 34.1

Smartphone (please complete the following information):
Does not apply

Additional context
Nothing is included via https://visualcomposer.com/help/system-requirements/ for requiring any composer dependencies. Personally, I am trying to get a feel for VC as that was recommending via the WPBakery plugin as a "trial run" to see if it fits my customers needs. As that was one plugin they had suggested due to some previous experience.

Thank you

Dynamic Advanced Custom Fields <br> inconsistency

Describe the bug
There is an inconsistency on how <br> tags are printed in ACF meta values and in the document. This causes the method wp-content/uploads/addons/dynamicFields/dynamicFields/Fields/FieldResponse::parseResponse to incorrectly return the value from the document without updating it with the actual content inside the dynamic field.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Install Advanced Custom Fields
  2. Create a field group with a WYSIWYG
  3. Assign that field group to any page
  4. Edit that page and add some text in the WYSIWYG field, making sure it has simple line breaks
  5. Create a template in Visual Composer for that page and dynamically link content to the ACF field. Save.
  6. Check the page, the contet will match with the ACF field
  7. Edit the ACF field, make sure it still has simple line breaks
  8. Check the page, the content will be the same that step 6

Expected behavior
The dynamic field should have updated the content to match the edition of the ACF

Desktop (please complete the following information):

  • Browser: any
  • Version: VC 35, WP 5.6.2

Additional context
I have fixed this problem by hacking the aforementioned file, adding the <br> replacement you can see down here. It's not pretty but it works:

    protected function parseResponse($currentValue, $actualValue, $response) {
        $currentValue = preg_replace("/\r\n|\r/", "\n", $currentValue);
        $actualValue = preg_replace("/\r\n|\r/", "\n", $actualValue);
        $response = preg_replace("/\r\n|\r/", "\n", $response);
        $currentValue = preg_replace("/<br\s?\/>/", '<br>', $currentValue);
        ...

I wasn't sure this was the place to post this, I also thought a pull request might be relevant but wanted to double check just in case. Thanks in advance!

How can the risk of feature toggle technical debt be reduced?

Dear developers,

I, Rezvan Mahdavi Hezaveh ([email protected]), and my colleague, Nirav Ajmeri ([email protected]), software engineering researchers from North Carolina State University are conducting an academic study of feature toggles and technical debt.

In our investigations on GitHub repositories, we noticed that you are using feature toggles in your repository. This commit is an example of adding and using feature toggles.

We would appreciate your collaboration in this study by answering an anonymous survey based upon your experience with the feature toggles. This survey has 20 questions and the estimated time to answer these questions is 10 minutes.

The link to the survey is here: https://ncsu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5BGE3wNDUtFQqMd

Once you start answering the survey questionnaire, you will have 24 hours to finish it.
As an appreciation for your time, we will conduct a random drawing and give $25 Amazon gift cards to five selected survey respondents. Also, we will share our results with you.

visualcomposer front end editor not working after migration

Hello, folks,

i just migrated my wordpress page including visualcomposer installation to my host and domain (i used duplicator plugin). Everything runs correctly so far. But when I wanted to edit a page with visualcomposer, I couldn't open (and edit) the page with the visualcomposer fronend editor anymore. all I saw was a never ending loading screen.

after that I did a visualcomposer reset, as recommended, and registered the new domain. Since this didn't work, I deactivated Gutenberg on all pages (with disable gutenberg plug in) and also deactivated the use with gutenberg in the visualcomposer settings.

None of this worked. I also installed query monitor, which displays several php errors in the backend of visualcomposer/settings/headers and footers:
include(/var/www/web62/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/visualcomposer/visualcomposer/resources/views/settings/pages/html-fields/dropdown.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory

chrome console issues the following error message:
Unchecked runtime.lastError: Could not establish connection. Receiving end does not exist.

the error with the front-end editor and these error messages in the backend area are maybe two different things. maybe they are related to each other after all.
i don't have a solution ready.

what could cause this error?
(php version 7.3)

please help!

Thanks in advance,
Greetings, Axel

Child page turns into Parent page on save

Hello. I have this issue of my VC child pages, turns into parent pages automatically, every time I save. Why is that?

Every time this happens, i go into Settings > Parent Page > The dropdown is sometimes on the initial parent page, that the page is supposed to be a child page of (but isn't the case), and sometimes it's on 'No parent'.
But no matter what, I have to click it again in the dropdown, Save. And the page is now a child page again, and the URL path is correct again.

Really annoying, and I can't figure out how to make it stay permanently as a child page. Any suggestions? Thank you.

VC Font Awesome Discord icon missing.

Hi, I'm trying to find the Font Awesome Discord icon as seen here: https://fontawesome.com/icons/discord?s=brands It was added in Font Awesome version 5.0.0 and in version 6.0.0 the Discord Icon was updated.
Snipaste_2022-05-21_15-01-15

But it seems to be missing in VC (I looked for it in VC Mono Social Icons and also in Icon Group elements) (see screenshot).
Snipaste_2022-05-21_14-54-19

I wondered if there is a way to update the version of VC Font Awesome libraries as the Discord icon was added in versions 5.0.0 and 6.0.0 as seen in the link above.
I really need this icon.

PostCSS variable of element ID

I'm building new elements for VC builder and I'm looking for create my element mixins. I watch the tutorial of Youtube, and it works for me, but I want to create more advanced elements, and its so heavy to create one .pcss file for each attribute that I want to modify easily in builder.
For Example:
I have a button that have color, font-size, background-color attributes.
Now I'm creating one .pcss file for each attribute like this:

.grid-3x2-button--bg-color-$selector {
	@if $bgColor != false{
		background-color: $(bgColor) !important;
	}
}

And this for each attribute.

Can I access to the react component id to use it in the variable of .pcss file??
I want to have some like this:

.grid-3x2-button-$id {
	@if $bgColor != false{
		background-color: $(bgColor) !important;
	}
        @if $color != false{
		color: $(color) !important;
	}
        @if $fontSize != false{
		font-size: $(fontSize) !important;
	}
}

Can I do this?

An issue with Role Manager and Right Click Menu functionality

There is an issue in the latest 37.0-beta-2 that comes from two latest functionalities Role Manager and Right Click Menu.

Steps to replicate:

  1. Disable adding elements for any user type.
  2. Log in with that specific user type.
  3. Try to edit a page with a decent layout.
  4. Now click on any element.
    NOTE: Nothing will happen, since you don't have element options the right click menu will not appear.

The issue is that now you had no feedback, but at the same time you can't scroll and you don't know what is going on!

Possible fix:
Add:
roleManager.can('editor_content_element_add', roleManager.defaultTrue())
to the the rightClickMenu.js handleRightClick function.

ACF doesn't work anymore, after update to Visualcomposer 20.0

Hello, VC team,

first of all, thank you for your great plugin.
i'm writing here because i have a problem after updating to the latest version.

i use ACF to output some additional fields via Shortcode Integrator.
This works fine, but after the update to 20.0 it is no longer possible to make changes in the ACF backend.

At first I thought that another plugin, which I had installed in the meantime, was responsible for this. The WP debug didn't give an error message. Also the deactivation of all other plugins was not successful.
So I installed a backup, which was in the period before the update. That at least brought me back to the old state and ACF worked again. I was able to create new fields and save changes. But I wasn't aware what could have caused the error, so I updated the Visualcomposer again.
now the error occurred again. Apparently there is a compatibility problem, which makes the use of ACF impossible. I can't create new fields, the WP Mediafile Uploader doesn't open and I can't save changes in the ACF plugin anymore.

To be on the safe side, I have now installed an old version of Visualcomposer (v17) and ACF is working fine again. But it's not a permanent solution.

Is this Issue already known?
I hope I could explain it sufficiently and understandably.

Thank you and many greetings,
axel

API Element Attributes "multipleDropdown" values not saving

I tried to use the "multipleDropdown" attribute listed here:
https://visualcomposer.com/help/api/element-structure/

I configured it like a normal dropdown with a global variable.
The keys and values appear just fine in a multiple select.
After selecting a few options and saving the page the multi-select is cleared again afterwards.

Are there any solutions or am I doing something wrong?

Post Grid Module Missing URls

Hello,

The post grid module for Visual Composer is displaying but the links to the posts are missing. This problem is 100% for sure a problem with the plugin and not related to a theme or plugin conflict. I disabled all plugins except Visual Composer, I switched between themes and the problem persists regardless of theme or other plugins active/inactive on the site. Furthermore, the problem persists with WordPress core versions 5.6.4 and 5.7.2 with PHP version 7.4.

The code that is output to the browser:

<a href="" class="vce-post-description-link" itemprop="sameAs"></a>

The page linked above is not the only place on the live site that uses the Post Grid, there is also a Post Grid on the home page. We need an immediate fix for this because it makes a bad impression on our site users to have broken functionality on our site.

Thanks in advance for any support you are able to provide with this problem.

Amy Singleton

How to build a custom element? 'elementBoilerplate' not working

Hi,

Can't seem to build a custom element.

Using production (app store) VC, v26.0.

I'm using your boilerplate for a new custom element:
https://github.com/VisualComposer/elementBoilerplate

yarn install
yarn watch

It compiles fine.

Then, on the PHP end, in my custom plugin:

	add_action( 'admin_enqueue_scripts', [ $this, 'enqueueScriptsAndStyles' ] );

	// .......

	public function enqueueScriptsAndStyles() {
		wp_enqueue_script( 'xyz', 'http://127.0.0.1:50002/element.bundle.js' );
  	}

And then I refresh the page builder, but the browser console shows errors, and the page is broken, not loading at all:
