The nonempty option has been removed from sys-fs/fuse:3, see e.g. https://sourceforge.net/p/fuse/mailman/message/35542127/
This is currently used by sys-fs/overlayfs and sys-fs/squashfuse. The latter just forwards the option -o nonempty to sys-fs/fuse.
Not sure whether this should be considered a bug in sys-fs/sqiashfuse or in squashmount.

A current workaround is to set MOUNT_SQUASHFUSE => [ '-o', 'allow_other'] in all of your mount configurations, but this is not nice. Perhaps I should just change the default in a new release. Not sure yet whether it is necessary to add a backward-compatibility flag.
