Hi.
I'm just trying out the software and it's really amazing. But I have one issue though.
When I have selected an item and press the "Reserve Selected Item" button, I just get a Member browser window and a popup that asks if I want to see the Member browser window, either yes or no gives me the member browser, where I can't "apply" any as the borrower.

What am I doing wrong?

I'm using the git source, downloaded and compiled today 12/12 2017.

I would like to import a database of 5000 books into Biblioteq. I realize that you haven't integrated this functionality yet and that it's difficult to do so. However, I've already given it a try by importing directly into the SQLite tables and it didn't quite work (added the records to the book table, but then saw that I needed some in book_copy_info).

Is there anywhere I can find documented how to do this? I only have three columns: author, title, dewey number.

G'day,
this could probably be easily included as more or less a repeat of the "photographs" category - or even as a subset ?
I note that this category is based on an 'album' premise, it would be more convenient for the user to have the facility for a single item entry rather than an album of items. Perhaps the 'photographs' category could be replaced with two 'photo/document' categories, one singular and the other an album or set of documents.
With this enhancement it would be much more useful for the small archives of local historical societies and the like.
BiblioQ is generally great stuff, many thanks !

I just downloaded and upgraded to version 2018.07.04 and when I ran it and connected to the DB then ran the upgrade db schema it gave an error. Not it won't read the db at all. The error was about duplicate field names.

Can someone please help me by giving me a step by step instructions on how to get biblioteq synced on the same database for two computers? I have about 5,000 books and that will drive me crazy if I don't get help. A friend is willing to help me but I don't know how to synchronize the computers. I have been able to install it on each computer and they are working fine individually.

Please someone should just help me come up with a solution or the best way to make it work.

1. Series fields (MARC21: 490) $a - Series statement and $v - Volume/sequential designation
2. Dewey Edition (22, 23, 13a etc)

1. Give the option to show "Publication Date" as year only (or at least, month/year)

Also, it would be nice to add a field called Accession Number or Input Number or something like that: it's a number given to each item (like the ID number of Biblioteq) not by a computer program but from an Accession book (much much long ago before pc existed...)"

In BiblioteQ General Database Search We always faced a problem when searching in any field for example:
if we know the title but we do not know the date of publication will not show results
This problem is repeated in all search windows

So I suggest
The user should have the option to cancel fields (date of publication - Price - copies) when searching

Today some ISBN start with 979 (instead of 978), but biblioteq convert ISBN 13 to ISBN 10 and recalculate the value on save. So it's impossible to handle ISBN starting by 979 and this lead to collision in the database.

Can you add support to ISBN starting with 979 ?

Hello. Recently found your project, looks very interesting. Wanted to add some translations, but stuck with strange issue. Can you help me with it?

First problem is that I can't edit existing translations. I took german translation as a base, wanted to edit it, but it doesn't let me to do it. Copied ts file, renamed it to the language I want, but still it is blocked. And so is with every translation. There are some untranslated lines in some files, I can edit these lines, but not anything else. Tried with both - Qt4 Linguist and with Qt5 Linguist.

Second problem is - when I try to generate language file with 'lupdate' command it generates empty file. I add my language to biblioteq-source.pro file and run lupdate. It says

Can you help me with this? I've looked thru internet and didn't found a solution except that my Qt might be to new. I am running Manjaro with Qt 5.12.0 and Qt 4.8.7. Program compiles well with Qt5, existing translations are present in running app.

also it will also be neat if user can backup the database to cloud automatically because tragedy happens to personal computer almost all the time and it will be just too sad to have to input all the book data again.

it would also be handy if we can use webcam to scan the barcode of a book so that user need not to manually input data into the database.

I followed the following instructions:

a) Download the W32 online installer from http://download.qt.io/official_releases/online_installers/
b) Capture the BQ source (GitHub has a W32 interface somewhere)
c) I use the W32 terminal (one is prepared by the Qt installer), or much luck with Qt's Creator
d) qmake -o Makefile biblioteq.win.pro (terminal)
e) make

I installed Qt 5.13, QtCreator.
For step c) I launched Qt 5.13.0 (MinGW 7.3.0 32bit) terminal
When I run qmake -o Makefile biblioteq.win.pro inside the root of the source code I downloaded from github, I get:

i try to export my database to xls. The programm has only to csv. I convert the csv to xls but i loose the greek characters. Have anyone an idea?

When we export the data to Excel, the Arabic characters are invisible (disappear).

Here are the update translation attachment of the biblioteq_ar_JO.ts file in order to add the Arabic (Jordan) Language in a Desktop BiblioteQ software (client).

I'd love it if I could hit Ctrl+S and Ctrl+W to save and close a "Modify Book Entry" (or similar) window. Other keys would be fine too, especially the as-of-yet unused F keys.

Because there are multiple buttons with S or C as the accelerator, hitting Alt+S or Alt+C only highlights that button, and does not activate it. It also requires multiple keypresses to "scroll" through all of the choices before the right button is selected.

After using the program without the .conf file a first book could be entered using the SRU Query.
But because of another issue, we are using now a .conf file.
Now the SRU query does not work anymore.
It always gives a popup with:

Both do not work.
We checked the SRU data as you can see in SRU-3, but this also does not work.

I could not find any help in the documentation about a used "protocol" unfortunately.

But There are some notes:
1- The Arabic (Jordan) language option is not in the list of languages
FROM options languages.

2. It is important to add YYYY only option in publication date
   FROM other options

3. I have modified some of the translated terms as shown in the attached file 1-5-2017biblioteq_ar_JO

4. When I change the database password, the database remains without a password even though the system is shut down and restarted

Publication date formats that can be selected for item types in the Options dialog do not include DMY or YMD style formats. The format selector should either include these date formats which are standard outside the USA.

Grey literature is a term for technical reports such as Environmental Impact Assessments, which have not been published via normal publishers and which may be present in public libraries in small numbers. The grey literature monkier hints at the fact these (key) documents have low visibility to normal bibliographic services. Can you please add a screen for documenting grey literature. The key fields are authors (person & corporation), client, type of document, location (local government area/county), document title, and unstructured notes.

the latest update is not working to my pc.
when i search a book title i have a message "Unable to retrieve the data required for populating the main views". What can i do?

When I install BiblioteQ-2018.12.12_amd64.deb file from sourceforge, it reaches 100% installation but then nothing happens and Install button is active, I can click it endlessly with same effect. I have installed Qt5 and Yaz. Anything else I can do?

And why does it show license as Proprietary btw?

I have one question: Can reservation Due Date may be configured to allow any date?

Good evening. I would like to enter information for language, monetary units, location, originality, condition, and book binding type. However, these are in grey and do not allow for editing. They seem to be locked as a default. Any idea why or any suggestions on how to change them? Thanks

if you create locations in enumerations, save, quit the application and go to enumerations database again all the previous enumerations are lost. I think they are not fetched from DB when the page is loaded, but if you press save again when the form is in this status you lose all your data because empty enumerations are saved.

it is "check" the button "Do not record reservation history" in the members list. How can I change it?

An error often occurs when WE create a new database, the old one is replaced by the new one by mistake.
So Having New SQLite Database button in main window causes errors
Can You add a button for create a database backup?
