I just removed 'if v.available?' and one 'end' from spree_product_zoom/app/views/spree/products/_thumbnails.html.erb now both zoom and variant functionalities are working fine

Yeah. That check seems to be superfluous. Variants are selectable on the product page even when they're unavailable (I assume this means out of stock) and I don't see any advantage to hiding their photos in that situation.

I've just come across the same error, runing spree 2.1.3. I'm new to git , how do it get this fixed ?
I can manually apply the fixes but every time I bundle update/install it reoccurs.
