Hey, that sounds like functionality that should be provided by another plugin. Since VirtualCollections behave like regular collections you should be able to combine them with another plugin to get the results you're after. Something like Backbone.Aggregator might work for you.

I looked into Aggregator and it doesn't really do what I want. I agree with you that this could be handled by a second plugin, so I'll probably just end up writing something new.

Basically, what I want to achieve is:

(AlreadyLoadedChildren + SearchResults) -> (VirtualCollection filters by search string) -> output
