First of all, great work! And thanks for making it free.
I hope this is okay to write here, but one thing I'd love to see is a Thunderbird icon that's similar to the Firefox one. The current one is good, but when looking at you don't really know that it's Thunderbird.
Here's a great Material themed thunderbird icon (not square, and I assume, non-free though): https://icons8.com/icon/38697/thunderbird
Could these be made square to match all the app icons? I realise these two are in the main Numix icon theme, but they look inconsistent in Linux Mint, especially since the lock screen icon is square.
The README looks so empty without a screenshot of the few icons of the icon theme.
The same goes for Circle and the base theme. Those screenshots could be used later on the flatpak package (which will be shown on the software center)
Now we're releasing Square, it needs including in our repos π

Hello Numix team
Nice to see the square theme in github too!
I've noticed apparently a bug in the square ones:
I didn't noticed it in my full-hd 15" of my laptop but it comes obviously in my full-hd 23":
In the corner of some square icons, it's possible to notice the superior layer not completely over the inferior one, so it possible to see the color of the inferior layer.
The two examples above it's possible to check a white "line" on the edge (right, superior)
However due to the colors of the design is hard to notice on this one.
There are new icons on Plasma last version for OSD when you hit fn+display (I think it is since january 2018). Once installed they are located here /usr/share/icons/breeze/applets/64 and they are named like osd*
I am a big fan of Numix-Square, so I did not want to switch back to breeze just for that.
Here is how I fixed it:
in /usr/share/icons/Numix-Square/index.theme
I just added:
Inherits=Numix,breeze
instead of
Inherits=Numix
Would be nice if i can have postman icon for this pack:
Postman: https://www.postman.com/
The latest package for Fedora was missing some icons that I wanted so I pulled the icons directly from the repository here. When I did so the icon for vscode got switched around.
But the thing is that when I copy it from the cloned folder, it becomes this:
tegaidogun@CHIBUDOM ~
$ sudo cp -Rf numix-icon-theme-square/Numix-Square/ /usr/share/icons/
it changes from the default visual studio icon to the Codium icon:
Is there a linking issue in the files that I am overlooking? Because in the folder I cloned directly from this repository, the the normal Visual Studio Code icon is there:
Related to update to GNOME 3.28 GNOME changes some iconnames, this causes that p.x. gnome-music shows a standard icon instead of the numix one.
from
Icon=org.gnome.Music
(from desktop file)
may create a symlink to link gnome-music.svg
with
org.gnome.Music.svg
Now we're releasing Square, it needs including in our repos π
Repo: ???
Package Name: numix-icon-theme-square
starts with the icons ... but after changing the volume it disappears and stays the same with the question mark.
Desktop: KDE Plasma 5.11
Update Firefox icon to upstream.
It would be great if you guys could redo the jetbrains icons to be more similar to the circle ones.
Will square icon be added into the ppa?
[2016-11-15 10:06] [ALPM] upgraded numix-icon-theme-square (1:0.r83.3bc6d001-1 -> 1:0.r83_6-1)
After this update, the icons in obmenu-generator no longer work. Before it was possible to use the app name in order to get the corresponding icon (ie. 'thunar'), and now the full path to icon must be entered '/usr/share/icons/ ... /thunar.svg'. Icons path are broken in both the custom and automatic entries (generated from application categories)
I use antergos linux with lasted kernel, system is up to date, DE is custom (openbox + mostly components of lxde, xfce). I noticed the bug after updating my laptop and then confirmed the same behavior on my pc.
I am aware of the plethora of duplicate issues for missing Visual Studio Code icons and the reasons for the issue therein.
When using Numix Circle icon theme, the workaround to change the .desktop launcher file icon to read Icon=vscode
does work as intended.
However, this functionality is not mirrored by the Numix Square icon theme. In the big list of icons in issue numixproject/numix-core#3481 there is an entry for "vstudio" (that is checked) and "visualstudiocode" (that is not checked). I did attempt to use Icon=vstudio
instead of Icon=vscode
but did not have any luck.
Any idea on a similar workaround for Numix Square?
One of the few "default" applications that do not appear to have a square icon defined is gnome-calendar and gnome-books. Gnome-books could use the Calibre icon, or Calibre-Viewer. I'm not sure on gnome-calendar. Gnome Help also needs one, but I was unable to identify the executable called when launching that.
Sourcetrail is a code browsing tool for C, C++ and Java, which seems to be rapidly gaining popularity.
It would be nice to have a Numix icon for it so it would fit with the style of the rest of the apps.
I can find the Tilix numix circle icon. Could you add the square icon too?
Please update phpstorm icon...
Now we're releasing Square, it needs including in our repos π
Repo: numix/numix

See here. Basically need to switch Panel & Notifications for Status
Visual Studio Code is one of the most popular code editors around.
It would be nice to have a icon for it since it uses the default text editor icon for square and circle
