Please be aware you're using a developer version, which may and will contain errors, bugs, mistakes and unfinished code.

You have been warned.

If you're still ok with this, please remember to post possible issues that you find in the developer version. That's the only way we can find sources of error and fix them. Be as specific as possible:

  • tell us the version number
  • only use the vehicles necessary, not 10 other ones at a time
  • which vehicles are involved, what is the intended action?
  • Post! The! Log! to Gist or PasteBin

Newest features

Snap direction has been renamed to lane guidance. It is possible to swtich to left or right reverse guidance lane. Here are the lane guidance key bindings:

  • LCtrl+W: (de-)activate lane guidane on nearest lane
  • LCtrl+LAlt+W: detect width and offset of attached implements
  • LAlt+W: Disable lane guidance
  • LCtrl+A / LCtrl+D: shift by one lane to the left / right
  • LAlt+A / LAlt+D: switch to left / right reverse lane. You can specify the number of lanes to skip in the settings menu. There is no need to deactivate lane guidance for the turn. If you change direction, then the vehicle should steer into the right direction. If you deactivated guidance steering, then you can use LCtrl+S to reactivate it.
  • LCtrl+S: Reactivate last guidance lane

Some settings are display only in MP

In multiplayer games only the master user (aka administrator) can change global settings with key combination LCtrl+LAtr+C.

modSettings

Global settings are stored in the savegame and in modSettings/vehicleControlAddon.xml. Dedi servers will save the global settings in the savegame only.

Motivation

Although I have a steering wheel, but almost always play with the keyboard. On winding roads, I am again and again landed in the ditch in front of nights or power poles.

lost power on combine

After update to 0.0.9 my son lost power on his combine.
He can not climb up the hill anymore.
Earlier this week with other versions no problem.
A Rostelmach on field 31 on Felsbrunn.
What is changed?

Feature Request: Key to switch forward/back view

Can you add shortcut key to switch forward/back view (like fwd/back drive direction in shuttle)? It will be very helpfull to drive with steering wheel. Very often i drive back looking forward and drive forward looking back. Auto reverse camera is not enough in this case.

Feature Request: Key to toggle steering back (free steering)

Hi Stefan,

Would you be so kind to consider an option to toggle the "steering back speed" setting between "0" (off) and the last set preference speed. This wil result in a functionality much like the "free steering" mode in DriveControl. Thanks in advance!

v0.0.0.4 steering vibration

Hi, with v0004 steering vibrates left/right (wheels and steering wheel) when adaptive steering is on.
Tested with and without Gamepad/SteeringWheel.

FS19_KeyboardSteer inputs

First of all, thank you very much for porting this mod to FS19, Stefan!
Can i suggest some different inputs, hope you don't mind:

  • default look forward
  • look left/right with key hold (or switch left/forward right/forward)
  • single input for switching forward/back look
    And of course input bindings for future versions.

In 0.0.0.9 ist mir aufgefallen das die Stop-and-Go Bremsung dauerhaft deaktiviert ist und sich auch nicht mehr Aktivieren lässt. (zuvor hatte ich nur 0.0.0.5) ich weiß nicht ob es ein Fehler ist oder so gewollt

Feature Request: enable/disable snap angle with the same button

Hey Mogli,

first of all thanks for this great mod!

I just found out about the new snap angle feature and was eager to test it out. I'm using a steering wheel and assigned the feature to a steering wheel button. It would be a great enhancement if it could be turned off with pressing the same button again. I know it turns off if you steer hard enough but that is not practicable if you just want a small course correction.

Dedicated server

Trying to use it on a dedicated server, the tractor has brake lights on and will only move forward very slowly. The log shows what happens when i log into server, tab to a tractor and hit space (shuttle) Server log Client log

Moin, mit der letzten Version ist die original "Fahrzeugkamara zuruecksetzen"-Funktion im LS-Menue ausser kraft gesetzt. D.h. beim Umschalten von Aussen- auf Innenkamara schwenkt diese wieder zum Ausgangspunkt, also als wenn das im Menue eingeschaltet waere.

Drescher will nur vorwärts fahren

Stefan, dir ein besinnliches Weihnachtsfest.

Ich habe beim Drescher ein Problem mit der Umschalttaste.

  • Komme ich ins Spiel dann funktioniert das Vor- u. Rückwärtsfahren mit Umschalttaste.
  • Bin ich aber im Spiel und nutze den Drescher erneut, dann funktioniert die Umschalttaste NICHT mehr. Der Drescher "überlegt" eine Millisekunde (mit kurzem Ruckeln nach hinten), ob er gefordertes Rückwärtsfahren machen soll, fährt dann aber immer wieder NUR vorwärts.

Mache ich etwas falsch?

Small typo in Repo title

There is an "u" too much in the title of this repo. Instead of "Farminug" it should be "Farming" in "KeyboardSteer for Farminug Simulator 2015" :)

Not an issue, more of a request. Local Settings Save.

Would you please look at creating a local XML file to save the settings I have for my vehicles when playing on a dedicated server? Maybe just by type if that is easier.

Example: I have some vehicles that I can't see out the back window, or that I like to use the mirrors, so I have to disable the look backwards feature. I would like it to save for that vehicle so I don't have to change the setting ever time I log back onto my server.

Disable autoRotateBackSpeed

Hey. Can your mod disable this option: autoRotateBackSpeed? When working with a wheel loader is very useful function.

  2. i use this mod together with Decker_MMIV`s QuickCamera mod:

    and there is a small conflict: when KeyboardSteer-reverseCamera is on and i use QuickCamera-look back
    camera rotates back and then returns automatically forward.

Just a request

Dear Mogli, first of all, sorry for my english. I would like to ask some advice. I tried to make a simple "hydrostatic" script for combines, but it was impossible for me in FS19. My plan was, that the throttle of my joystick control the cruiseControl: if the throttle is 10%, the cruiseControl maxspeed is 10% etc. If the throttle is "-10%", the combine go automatic backward, and the cruiseControl maxspeed is 10%...I could do this in the previous version, but there are full darkness now.......I would be very grateful if you could help me. zoli

Multiplayer: LUA Call Stack on several Scripts

Mit v 0.0.0.9 habe hängt sich der Dedicated Fs19 gerne auf:
Grundlegend: bei Speichern das gleiche Bild wie Bei Issure #49 nur das bei uns sobald man in den Game options was ändert z. B. Verkehr an oder aus oder den Zeitmultiplyer gibt es einen Endlos loop an LUA Call Stack "data/script/[...]ashable.Lua(202) danach ging garnichts mehr.

Ich dade später nochmal einen log hoch.

Excessive camera movement when using shuttle outside vehicle

The switching back and forward of the camera when using the shuttle outside the vehicle is a bit disconcerting. I have done a quick fix by adding the following after line 521 in the lua

elseif not self.spec_enterable.cameras[camIndex].isInside then
return false

hoping you can do a more permanet fix

Feature Request: "Peek" left and right

Currently when selecting to look left or right the view stays like this until another viewing direction is chosen.

Since most of the time you only look left or right for a short amount of time when operating a machine (for example to check the mirror or to verify that the edge of a machine is where it is supposed to be) it would be nice to have an option to choose to just look left or right as long as the key/button for that view direction is pressed, and when the button is released the view automatically changes back to the previous viewing direction.

Gearbox repository

"This repository has been archived by the owner. It is now read-only.". Appears at the top of the gearbox repository page and makes it impossible for anyone to even comment on the issues one has found with the mod (be that good or bad things). Please do something about that. I'd like to keep contributing to that mods development. Please and thank you.

'keyboardSteerMogli.lua:642: attempt to compare nil with number' error when trying to use the train

Using FS17_KeyboardSteer Version: 2.1.1.3 the log gets flooded with the following error as soon as one of the trains on Goldcrest Valley is entered:

Error: Running LUA method 'update'.
/Users/frank/Library/Application Support/FarmingSimulator2017/mods/FS17_KeyboardSteer/keyboardSteerMogli.lua:642: attempt to compare nil with number

When using other vehicles this error doesn't occur.

Also with Version 2.1.1.3 the log contains the following warnings if the language of the game is set to something other than German:

Feature Request: Return to Center at Max Speed

This mod is great! Thank you.

One suggestion: While it is nice to have steering slowed at higher speeds, it would still be preferable to have steering return to the center at normal or fast speed, so that if the player stops inputting Left or Right, the vehicle returns to a straight trajectory sooner.

"Durchdrehen" im MP

Hi,
wenn ich die Indoor Kamera im Multiplayer nutze, dann dreht sie permament durch.
Sobald ich nach rechts / links drehe ... dann fährt die Kamera in der jeweiligen Richtung im Kreis.

ich hab mit der aktuellen version (1.8.9.2) von keyBoardSteer ein problem mit den ToolCameras von Giants.
sobald ich z.b. auf die Cam wechsel beim Jenz Hacker haut mir keyBoardSteer einiges in die log

HeadTracking(TrackIr) issue

It doesn't seem to work with head tracking(trackIR). It would be nice to be able to use the look backward feature even when trackIr is on.

Hi, ich hatte die Ruefa immer nur mit den Valtras probiert, da funktioniert die einwandfrei. Heute habe ich nun die 900er ausprobiert und irgendwie scheint die adaptive Lenkung nicht richtig zu funktionieren. Auch wenn man mal auf 500% geht, geht die immernoch viel zu schnell bei langsameren Geschwindigkeiten.

Multiplayer: self reseting settings on Player join/leave

In Multiplayer game after connecting and setting up (all my) vehicles the settings will be reset after another Player connect / disconnect

Edit: even after Workshop Modifikation(das kommt aber durch die neue Vehicle ID, vielleicht bekommst du das trotzdem hin)

Hi Mogli, I find this error using KeyboardSteer v 2.0.1.3 while I switch for Stepa trailer to other tractor using TAB button:

I try to update Farming Simulator 17 to version: 1.3.0.0 1.3RC4 but it give me the same error

Analogue controller option issue with GPS mod

Hi,
If you activate the analogue controller option and then try using the GPS mod, the steering wheel in cab of the vehicle you are using flickers weirdly as it steers to auto correct. Could this be sorted out so that the steering animation remains as smooth as without that option selected?

P.s. Thanks for all the hard work on all your mods.

Feature Request: add options to look 45° left and right backwards

Using FS19_KeyboardSteer v0.0.1.0.

Currently when using the functions to look left and right the view always switches to 45° left and right looking forward.

It would be nice that when looking backwards when using the functions for looking left and right would also set the view to look backwards at 45° left and right instead of switching to the forward view.

High Idle RPM

After driving and then stopping, the idle drops to 1000(+-) rpm, you then have to tap accelerate button to allow the engine to go down to normal idle 850-900 rpm.

This Script varies the steering speed, the steering back speed and the maximum steering angle depending on the current vehicle speed.
In addition the camera is rotated according to the steering angle an the driving direction. The digital accelerator (keys a and w) can be limited.
Only when Shift-Left is pressed at the same time 100% acceleration or braking happens.

Shouldn't that say keys W and S? Foward and Reverse/Brake? Or am I misunderstanding?

nill value on settingsscreen

Hoi Stefan,

In the settingsscreen in game there is a nill text at the last option on the left. Which is the on/off toggle for activating the forward/reverse gear option with spacebar.
I would like to implement the Dutch translations for this option as well but don't know which labels to use for this.
Guess it is something to do with ksmSHUTTLE as that is also the only one not translated yet in keybindingsscreen also.
Please advice so I can adjust it.

F und R immer sichtbar

Dieses kleine F wenn man vowärts fährt oder das R wenn man rückwärts fährt im Hud unten rechts ist zwar cool, aber es bleibt auch sichtbar wenn ich z.B. in den Shop gehe.
Also es verschwindet einfach nicht.
Könnte das dann ausgeblendet werden, wenn man den Shop öffnet?

bucking indoor camera MP

Hello, I have a problem in MP-Mode, it jerky very in the Indoor Camera, when a second player is in the game. If he leaves the room, it works.
The Outdoor Camera functions normally.

Why jerky camera inside when more players are in the room?

Probleme mit Vierradantrieb und Shuttle Control

ich finde es super, dass es nun eine Möglichkeit im LS19 gibt die Fahrtrichtung per Tastendruck zu ändern.

Darauf habe ich als Pedalfahrer schon lange gewartet.

Leider gibt es ab und zu ein Problem mit Version 0.0.1.4.
Wenn die Reifen des Traktors durchdrehen schaltet der Traktor auf Vierradantrieb.
Dann ist es mir schon öfters passiert, dass die eine Achse in die eine Richtung und die andere Achse in die andere Richtung dreht.

Ultrawide monitor

I'm using an ultrawide monitor with aspect ratio 32:9, and it seems the menu doesen't work as it should at this ratio, and the F and R letters for forward and reveres for the shuttel isn't where it's supposed to be on the monitor, it's kinda inside the speedomeeter, just below the durability meeter.

inching Gas/breaks

Hi, ich weiss, vielleicht noch ein bissl frueh fuer Anregungen, das noch keine docu gibt, aber vielleicht eine Anregung fuer Keboardsteer...ich glaube upsidedown hatte das im Drive-Control, da war eine kleine option um z.B. besser "sanft" bremsen zu koennen. Da drueckte man zusaetzlich zu "S" die Alt-Taste und da wurde die Bremskraft um 50% reduziert (ich weiss nicht mehr, obs genau 50 waren)...Bei STrassenfahrten oder sonstigen Arbeiten war das klasse, das man "2-Stufig" Bremsen konnte und auch mal sanft an eine Kruezung oder wo auch immer ranfarhen konnte....koennte man das implementieren?

PS, faellt mir gerade ein, dieses "Inching" funkionierte auch beim Gasgeben , also W und Alt machte ein sanfteres Anfahren moeglich...

Suggestion: autoRotateBackSpeed delayed start

Great mod, just one minor tweak would be good - if there can be a small delay (say 0.2 Seconds) before the steering wheel rotates back to centre. Currently as soon as you release "A" or "D" the auto rotation starts immediately.

snap 180/-180 direction problems

Hi Stefan,
Only on 180/-180 direction (tested only 90 degrees snap) tractor start turning in circles and angle switching sometimes between180 and -180 degrees. All other 90 deg angles work fine.
