Character Interaction Networks for George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" saga

These networks were created by connecting two characters whenever their names (or nicknames) appeared within 15 words of one another in one of the books in "A Song of Ice and Fire." The edge weight corresponds to the number of interactions.

You can use this data to explore the dynamics of the Seven Kingdoms using network science techniques. For example, community detection finds coherent plotlines. Centrality measures uncover the multiple ways in which characters play important roles in the saga.

This is the data for the work presented here: https://networkofthrones.wordpress.com by Andrew Beveridge.

asoiaf's Issues

Book 45 together ?

The books 4 and 5 are together in a single file. Is there a reason for that (except for being a split book with 2k pages)?

And the book column just contains "4"?

Thanks for your amazing work! got some questions

Thank you for your amazing work here! After reading your analysis, I got some little questions:

Is the result of community detection based on facts or algorithm?
- If it's based on the algorithm, what algorithm did you choose?
- If it's based on the facts, can you add community attributes to the nodes file?

Thank you very much, look forward to your reply.

Increasing FAIRness of the data set

Hello there,

Thanks a lot for assembling this data set!

I realize that it is quite old but I'm hoping that you might be interested in furthering the re-use in two quick steps:

  • Adding a license, such as CC0 or similar, is quite essential.
  • You can integrate Zenodo with your GitHub repository with a few clicks. That would allow you to upload your data there and receive a citable DOI.

Thanks a lot for your consideration.
