Test code should be run using a continuous integration server. I've had luck with TravisCI using py.test in the past!

• add py.test test cases

Currently, locuspocus does not pip install correctly:

pip install git+https://github.com/schae234/LocusPocus.git

Will correctly install, but no module is loaded into the path:

ImportError: No module named 'locuspocus'

See the stub Loci class (locuspocus/Loci.py). This was taken from another project and implements the basic functionality.

Description

In order to mitigate differences between OS installs, differences in libraries, and to ensure a similar development environment, we should decide on a common working environment that we know LocusPocus will work in.

In the past I have had success with python virtual environments (both virtualenv as well as conda). This will also double as the default way to run our CI tests, since the .travis.yml file will be a simple execution of the install script.

Tasks

• create an install script that creates a virtual environment for LocusPocus
  • maybe use miniconda?
  • update .travis.yml to use install script
  • update README.md to show installation instructions

After running setup.py, no LocusDist.pyd file accompanying the pyx file. Trying to import any module in locuspocus resulted in error.
After manually importing pyximport; pyximport.install(), all modules can be successfully imported.
