A game engine for making classic arcade style games using Javascript and HTML5. We're starting moving on a re-organized repo here: https://github.com/akihabara
If I embed one of the applications the focus isnt on it. You have to click in the border of the webpage to get the focus and then use the game. I dont know if its a problem or is it suposed to work that way, or if it's a problem of my browser (chrome).
Hi my name's Andrew Wooldridge. You can search around for me on the net if you're curious, but I've been writing js for several years, and working on my own canvas based game engine here: http://ajaxian.com/archives/canvas-quest-rogue-like-rpg-game I'd love to help out with your project, perhaps helping with documentation or working on code issues? What I could do is just fork your project, make some additions and then propose patches back to yours when / if you'd be interested. Anyway, I really like your project and I hope to make a few games with this myself.
I was testing the demos for performance on my smart phone before actually diving in and using the Akihabara lib for a project. However, they all stalled about 2/3 of the way. This even happened for the "Hall of Fame" demo.
I also tried the various 'forced touch' and 'half zoom' options. No luck.
At the moment loadAll in gbox.js has a specific relative path ("akihabara/debugfont.png") for the debug font. It would be nice to have a way to override just this path to, for example, work on Akihabara games with jsFiddle, or more generally in situations where the page isn't on the same server as Akihabara.
Touch doesn't work on all the demos while using my phone. The demo loads but tapping the screen for the 'A' button has no effect. I've also tried the "forced touch device" demo links at the bottom of the main page.
Info:
Android 2.2
Default browser (WebKit - Safari)
Hardware: HTC EVO
Note: Audio is disabled to fully load the game.
In Chrome 13 (I'm using Canary on Windows 7), the loading bar on all Akihabara games gets to about 20-50%, then the whole tab crashes out. It's probably a problem with Chrome that will get fixed before release, but I thought I'd submit an issue just in case this behavior is permanent. Hopefully it isn't.
Hello, I am experimenting with Akihabara and so far I love everything about it.
I took the "Leave Me Alone" demo and made the tiles half-sized (10px square instead of 20px square). If the character stands on the edge of a platform, facing the edge, then turns around, he will fall through the edge of the wall.
Is there a way to change the sensitivity of the tile collision for platform-based games, just as with top-down-based games? If I were to address the problem myself, where is a good place to start looking? Currently digging around in toys.js.
