news-at-command-line's Issues

Requirements.txt

It would be better to add a requirements.txt file and include all requirements in it to ease installing requirements.

Android App

Can we have an Android App for this project?

Make Gui

That's a nice project.
can we make GUI with Tkinter.
And make main.py as executable file.
so what about your opinion

Saving the Article to the File

Currently, we can just view the article from different news sources,
what we want is to extend the functionality to save the article into some file type
which can be viewed by the user later on?

Requirements:

  1. Save Function for the Article
  2. Asking a user to save or not.
  3. Setting some Default Folder path in the config file where Files will be saved

news api migration to v2

as I was getting interested in this project, I saw that there is not much documentation on newsapi.org, furthermore, they are now migrating to version 2 of the api, for which they do have some more documentation and examples.

If it is possible, I would like to take on the migration to v2 of newsapi. Let me know what you think.

conif.yml not found

This line will create an IOError if the script is run from the Main.py but not installed.

with open("config.yml", 'r') as ymlfile:
IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'config.yml'

I suggest to first check the current dir, then load the config.yml file accordingly.

Future Plans

@Griffintaur What are your plans for the future direction of this project?

I have some thoughts, but they might be a bit more and a bit different than you had intended. I have expressed some of them in the TODO.md.

I have some of these done in a PR on my fork. Though, I ran out of time last night in the refactor and it is not in a running state yet. (Almost there.)

So, my thoughts are below, the last of which being the one that would probably pull things most in a different direction.

What are your thoughts on where you want this project to go?
