Should the readme be altered to reflect the current situation with truecrypt.org and the new truecrypt.ch?

Hi! Since this is a fork can you please add a more popular license like GPLv3, Apache, MIT or just any popular free and open source license? TrueCrypt is not "free software" and it is not "open source" it is "source available". With a clear, popular license it is easy for everybody to understand what can and cannot be done with the source code. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TrueCrypt#License_and_Open_Source_status

Did anyone check, the diff to the new 7.2, which is currently released on the original truecrypt homepage?
Or is even the source code available?

Maybe we could learn something from that diff, if we could somehow get it...

7.1a installer not allow the install on yosemite 10.10

I tried to clone the repository and got a "403 forbidden" error. This was cloning the supplied URL: https://github.com/FreeApophis/TrueCrypt.git

I haven't tried the headless version yet, but truecrypt fails with the following command when using the regular kernel. I'm not sure if this has to do with the Ubuntu transition to systemd, or what, but I think it merits further investigation for people using linux with Truecrypt, especially Amazon.

Frankly, I'm surprised that this project hasn't reached out for more fundraising. I would make an issue for this, but it's not a technical issue.

Anyway, the error I got follows:

truecrypt device-mapper: resume ioctl on truecrypt11 failed: Invalid argument Command failed

My Ubuntu 14.10 system specifications:

Although 3.1 was added only in TrueCrypt 7.2, it's clear that the author(s)' intentions are to make the license less restrictive for others who wish to pick up development. You're probably safe in using the newer license for 7.1a.

I really doubt the author(s) will burn their anonymity to go after you for using the new license they wrote themselves.

What about this verified mirror. Are you goïng to use it as a code base.

Hello, on a HDD with truecrypt container file (with hidden volume, volumes was not mounted), i ran chkdsk /f and it returned this log.

The result is the container file having 0KB size and TC reports "Error: Incorrect volume size." upon mounting.

Hex editor shows this as the file beginning. And it told me it is unable to read from one single sector (indeed HDD SMART shows 1 pending sector) and i found this sector to look like this in hex.

How can i recover data from within hidden TC volume in my case please? I know password, i hope volume header is not damaged and is there somewhere. When i did system encryption on another HDD i had to create TrueCrypt Rescue Disk, unsure if it can be helpful anyhow.

TrueCrypt was certified to have some kind of trust. What efforts are made to accomplish the same for this project.

If for some reason this project had to change its name, what should it be?

This issue is not a competition (so no need for "I like X suggested by Y") - if there is a need for a new name, this list can be used as basis for a competition.

On Github there are several projects concerning TrueCrypt.
of which:
syglug/truecrypt
DrWhax/truecrypt-archive
are mentioned most on the internet.

It might be advisable to combine your efforts.

What about this idea, the password for TrueCrypt protected by OpenPGP Card, then mount a TrueCrypt disk will like this:

1. Open TrueCrypt
2. Select TrueCrypt Disk
3. Plug OpenPGP Card
4. Input OpenPGP Card PIN
5. OpenPGP Card decrypt password
6. The password decrypt TrueCrypt Disk

The VS project file is missing from this source base.

RealCrypt is the established name for the open source TrueCrypt fork, used by Fedora, CentOS, Mandriva and OpenSUSE. Analogous to Mozilla Firefox and Iceweasel. It will let us develop it further without obstacles.
