bootra1n's Introduction

bootra1n: Linux + checkra1n, on USB

Just enough Linux to boot checkra1n on any PC.

You will need:

  • An USB flash drive (at least 512MB or larger)
  • 64-bit or 32-bit AMD or Intel PC

You do not need to install additional software or an OS.

1. Download bootra1n 0.10.2

64-bit: 795e9e80c08bb801c812ab52b5494dec90620ce68f3f5169ad07aaed58176360

2. Write bootra1n to USB

Download Rufus, press SELECT, open the ISO file, and press START to flash it to your USB drive.

Tip: You also can burn a DVD in lieu of a flash drive.

3. Reboot and run checkra1n

Reboot your computer and enter your BIOS's boot menu.

bootra1n's Issues

USB -77 error IS OK

Every time I jailbreak I get USB error (-77) but the jailbreak completes successfully. It is quite annoying but at least it works. People have been having mixed issues though. There are some people that get this error and have it not work at all. Matter of fact, bootra1n didn't work until I tried to jailbreak my iPad, then would it accept my iPhone. It is all about trial and error people!.

[NOT AN ISSUE] Bootra1n appreciation post

Thank you for making bootra1n. Even though I already have linux, it's nice to have a backup (since I break my setup a lot). Windows users who have never heard of linux most likely were saved, by the simplicity this tool offers. <3

A7 Issue

Yes, A7 isn't fixed..........

Everybody says unplug and plug device on right before trigger step. ok i did then checkra1n boots my device and said usb error -77 then I tried usb safe mod then i did again all step and said error -63 this time. God damn i wanna jailbreak my deviceeee.....

blocked for more than 122 seconds

Hi, i cannot jailbreak.
iphone 5s
ios: 12.4.6

it appeared: checkra1n: 2032 blocked for more than 122 seconds

How to fix it?
Better using ubuntu? Linux?

does jailbreak effect the SIM card ?

when i asked about jailbrake some people told me that jailbreaking my iphone will disable sim card
so i cannot recive calls or ill get no sim card message
im using iphone 5s running ios 12.4.5

Error -92 usbmux

What's this error? Yet the jailbreak does it correctly , this doesn't happen when I run the tool in ram mode

Secure boot?

I can only get the usb to boot when turning off secure boot. With secure boot on(default), a pcie memory check screen pops up and finishes with “no bootable drive” or something like that.
Is there a way to get this working without first having to turn off secure boot? Thanks

I Didn't get the ISO file

i didn't get the file
the zip inside it are boot, liveOS and [BOOT]
Please help I want to jailbreak my iphone!!!

Boot bootra1n image with Grub4Dos?

initrd /boot/initrd

i have copy the "LiveOS" & "boot" to the root of usb stick.

AHCI controller unavailable

I get this error after trying to boot. Tried USB and UEFI. I"ve also tried the ACPI Error step in readme. I have the newest version of Bootra1n. I have a 64 bit Intel PC

nothing has changed

Hi, I used bootra1n to unlock icloud of an iphone 7,it would seem that everything went well,in fact I did not receive errors but when I turned on the phone the icloud still asked me for email and password.
How i can solve it? Thanks.

Please add recommended configuration options for Rufus?

I keep seeing everyone say to use rufus, but what configurations do we use?

I know to use default partition scheme and BIOS

but what about "Format Options", like file system and cluster size

I first tried with Fat32 filesystem with default 32 kilobytes cluster size.

Gave me error for "incorrect cluster size" or something.

So Im trying NTFS with default 4096 bytes and will edit with results:
Capture

Stuck on "checking if device is ready"

It shows the bar after my phone goes into DFU mode and gets stuck there for 10-15 minutes. My phone boots up after that with no BootRa1n. I have an iPhone 7 running IOS 13.3.1

graphics safe mode

Hey, could you please add the option:
Boot (graphics safe mode)
When running bootra1n x64 on my pc, the graphics are all messed up and the command line is unreadable. I had the same issue with an ubuntu live usb, and when selecting graphics safe mode, the issue stopped.

error -77

unit has no password still errro -77 tried on 2 units

USBMUX

Pls Need Help ERROR : USBMUX
jailbreak iPad Mini 4 i try anything but didnt work

Some feature requests

First, please add the libhooker bootstrap.
Second, please add support for project sandcastle

Adding Orca for blind users

Is it possible to add Orca screen reader be added to this, this will greatly help blind users to jailbreak their device independently. I have done some limited search and Orca is indeed available for voidlinux.

[Suggestion] add info that bootra1n works on DVD

hello, did some testing out of boredom recently and decided to see if bootra1n worked on a DVD since my multiboot USB was having issues (YUMI + bootra1n = not work, at least in GRUB unlisted)

surprisingly enough, it worked on my ATV4 (although giving error -77. didn't really matter since it still did the jailbreak just fine). i don't have other devices to test with, but from what i can tell, bootra1n works on DVD. it may also work on CD but i haven't tested that.

figured it'd be nice to have this known, even if no one really uses boot CDs/DVDs much anymore

No Checkra1n?

I did everything but it came back with error code -78 until I restarted my windows pc to relaunch checkra1n. Once I did that it ran perfectly but the problem now is that checkra1n seems to not have installed. It’s no where on my screen and it says “All Done” on my PC.

Login incorrect

I booted into bootra1n and entered “anon” then “voidlinux” as password but it says Login incorrect can you help me
