fossasia.org's Issues

Pin versions of Python modules.

@AmazingAbdullah We will need another commit to make travis run. Can you do the following?

Pronblem: With Python you can not be sure which version you get when you do pip install packageX. Zou would usually do pip install packageX==VERSION for the version that works.

Solution: Add the version information to allow future compatibility even several years in the future.

Join FOSSASIA

Hi, could you invite me to the FOSSASIA GitHub organization?

Fix height of gray events dropdown menu

The events dropdown menu currently does not show all links. Please ensure the box is automatically expanded to show all links of the menu on all FOSSASIA pages and subdomains.

Add cron job

To schedule campaigns or to make sending more reliable, add a cron job with the following command.
Command

php /usr/www/users/opentek/news/scheduled.php > /dev/null 2>&1

This command needs to be run every 5 minutes in order to check the database for any scheduled campaigns to send. You'll need to set your cron job with the following.
(Note that adding cron jobs vary from hosts to hosts, most offer a UI to add a cron job easily. Check your hosting control panel or consult your host if unsure.).
Cron job

*/5 * * * * php /usr/www/users/opentek/news/scheduled.php > /dev/null 2>&1

Once added, wait around 5 minutes. If your cron job is functioning correctly, you'll see the scheduling options instead of this modal window when you click on "Schedule this campaign?".

Wrong date on tweets

Tweets are showing wrong post date, e.g. 0 days ago for tweets that are posted long ago.

Text flowing out of allotted box

Current state:
On viewing the website on Redmi Note 3, the text after the blog posts carousel seems to come out of the allotted space.
Expected state : The text should not overflow out of the grey background and should be properly aligned with respect to the background.

issue

I want to work on this issue.

@isuruAb

Create amd64 build

As far as I can see, creating a meilix amd64 requires the following:

  • add the file image-amd64.tar.lzma
  • do not install i368 packages
  • add amd64 variants of the i368 packages
meilix$ ./build.sh amd64
./build.sh: ERROR: data file /home/coderdojo/meilix/image-amd64.tar.lzma not found

Questions:

  • Is it possible to use the same image files for amd64 as for i368?
  • Could we just copy the files for the amd64 image from the Ubuntu amd64 iso?

Slower Blog post transitions

Reading the preview blog posts at front page is difficult. The transitions are very fast. They should stop on mouse hover.

"Read more in the blog" button shouldn't be full-width on larger devices.

If someone gives a go ahead, I would like to work on this one.

Join fossasia link

Hi!

I've noticed the normal behaviour on joining fossasia is that the user asks an admin/completes the form and waits for approval.
I've created a tool called OrgManager that allows you to generate links to join a Github organization!
(You may want to get more info at the github repo or see it in action.)

Some organizations like Open Source Design are using it to make joining faster!

It even has an API, if you want to integrate it with your application!
(Api docs)

What do you think?

PD. If you think it could have other nice features, just open an issue on the repo!

"Fossasia" logo should be made static

As seen at the top right corner the fossasia is clearly and well visible.
pic1
Problem :Now when I opened the side bar on left the fossasia shifts to place where it's not completely visible.
pic2

I think we should either make the entire upper bar static or just make the fossasia part static.

Fix the blog showcase section on fossasia.org

The set up of http://blog.fossasia.org has changed as we moved the blog from Drupal to Wordpress. The result is that the showcase section "Blog" on the page does not work anymore. Please re-implement it on http://fossasia.org as follows:

  • Automatically show the last 10 blog entries of the FOSSASIA blog
  • Include heading, and below only show the first two paragraphs and a read more link
  • Use the xml file of http://blog.fossasia.org/feed/
  • Also show images and links if they are in the blog post
  • Implement the posts as a slideshow

Implement separate Blog Section

Implement blog section in design of page with

  • white background section
  • grayish background (as now is good)
  • corners (no round edges as this is not according to design specs)
  • links in red

Add bottom text, address and Github icon

Please do the following changes on all pages:

  • On the top right of the menu add a Github icon and link to https://github.com/fossasia
  • On the footer change the FOSSASIA text as follows:

About FOSSASIA
FOSSASIA develops Open Source software and hardware solutions with a global developer community from its base in Asia and organizes Open Technology events around the year. The organization runs coding programs and development contests. The annual FOSSASIA Summit is the premier Open Technology event in Asia for developers, contributors, start-ups, and technology companies. FOSSASIA was founded in 2009 by Mario Behling and Hong Phuc Dang.

  • On the footer change the address to:

Ms. DANG Hong Phuc

Move http content to https

Implement Web Tweets with loklak API instead of twitter API on FOSSASIA sites

Objective

There is already a working implementation of loklak webtweets at https://github.com/fossasia/fossasia-loklak-webtweets. Please implement loklak tweets to substitute the current implementation using the twitter API on http://2015.fossasia.org, http://2016.fossasia.org and http://fossasia.org. Keep the design as is and ensure tweets are looping.

Requirements

Expected Outcome

  • webtweets on FOSSASIA sites using loklak
  • design stays as is
  • tweets are looping in a slider (as is)
  • document changes and how to adapt functioning in Readme.md

Other

Keep the existing design

UI-UX Updations

@mariobehling sir i would like to work on making the overall UI-UX better for the website. There are a lot of places where the Website can be made more interactive and more user friendly.
I have a few changes in mind and will start working on them as soon as i get a confirmation.

Top bar has a moving effect - avoid that effect

When a user scrolls down the top and the bar switches to white a moving effect appears when the user scrolls over an item.

Expected: The underline effect should appear, but the moving effect should not appear.
