uca_board's Issues

GPS sensor is NOT working on this latest PCB.

Hi. I got your latest version of PCB and testing CPham's GPS Collar project, https://github.com/CongducPham/tutorials/blob/master/Low-cost-LoRa-Collar.pdf
But I am not receiving any GPS datas at gateway side. I also realized that the PCB board he used on his document/experiment and your current PCB might have some differences. Kindly share the schematic document for current version of PCB.

Also like to know if you had tried GPS sensor (GPS collar project expected to work straightaway) on your latest version of PCB.

TIA.

Ultrasonic Sensor Damaging Pro Mini 3.3V Board

Hi Fabien,

I saw your new version 3 has pin support for the HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Distance sensor. The HC-SR04 is a 5V device and I've found it doesn't work with 3.3V input (so have others on the internet apparently). The echo pin outputs 5V which is fed into one of the inputs of the Pro Mini board.

I think this could potentially damage the board. According to the ATMEGA328P datasheet, the maximum safe voltage on any input pins is VCC + 0.5V. So if you are powering the device by a typical 3.6V (or thereabouts) battery, the 5V input could damage the Arduino Pro Mini.

I actually recently destroyed a board by doing this. Maybe you could include a word of warning on your page where you mentioned the Ultrasonic sensor?

Just arrived

Hello Fabien, I just received pcb from pcbway. Thanks for your job. I notice you with my progress!
I wait from bme280 sensor.
I use the same pins as BMP280 (you have a graphic with this)?

Thanks in advance

LoRa radio is not working.

Hi. I ordered PCBs from PCBWAY. I soldered the radio & Mini Pro. Then I tried cpham's GPS arduino program, https://github.com/CongducPham/LowCostLoRaGw/tree/master/Arduino/Arduino_LoRa_GPS

The lora module is not detected even I used CS as pin #10. However, I realized that your current board and the board he used for collar project is different. May I know if you have any sample program to test the lora module and please share the schematic to cross check the pin connections.

TIA.

Short circuit between Antenna and Ground plane

There seem to be a short circuit between the ground plane and the Antenna connection pad
image
Even on the boards I ordered from a PCB manufacturer, with nothing populated on the board, it shows as a full short

If I cut the track in the A, the board works as expected

Is the short on purpose? Must it be cut?

Tunning antenna

I configure gw with 91 MHZ Band, in the frequency 913.88
I read the antenna tuto but i dont understand.
I need to make a cut at 21 mm? to tune? (I see the yellow curve)
Thanks in advance

PCB design issues during fabrication

Hi. I am trying to fabricate the uploaded the PCB gerber file and forwarded it for PCB fabrication. Its look like there are some design issues they are facing before the fabrication. The following issues has been raised by fabrication engineer and need to be fixed. Kindly go through the issue and help me to fix these issues.

  1. Two drill files are given, hole.drl & via.drl. What are the roles of these two files?.
  2. In your design, the drill to drill distance is 0.08mm. Can we increase upto 0.15mm?.
  3. In your design the TT-TP-PP-TW is 0.0179mm. Can we increase upto 0.125mm?
    UCA_PCB_Error.pdf

I have attached a error document in detail. PFA.

It should be useful if you share the schematic document as well.

TIA,
Prakash

How to tune the antena for a 1mm board.

Thanks Fabien for this project.

Some manufactures do not offer 0.8mm on some services. The thiner they offer is 1mm. Can the antenna be tuned for that thickness or requires a new desing?

PCBWays file is corrupted

Hi Fabien Ferrero,
I would like to thank this project and UCA based antenna should be very useful when we target the portable LoRa based project to avoid the external antenna.

I found that the "Ordering a PCBWays" file under document/tutorial folder is either corrupted or in wrong format.

Keep it up your great job.

TIA,
Prakash

PCBWay isue

Thank you very much for sharing your work.
I have tested your previous design with hopeful results regarding the efficiency of the antenna.
I just requested samples of the current design by the method of requesting them directly to "PCB Way" and they have sent me the following:

For order W157029ASU2, please check attached pictures, the copper layers and soldermask layers format are not correct, you designed all of them as Raster, but we require line, smt pad and through hole formats, here attached other pictures about correct format for your reference

file issue
correct format
correct format-2
file issue-2
correct format-3

I would appreciate it if you confirmed the option added by the manufacturer.

Very thankful.

What changes would need to happen if the extra sensor space is not needed?

Dear Prof. Ferrero,

The UCA board is a wonderful project!
In our case, we will however not need to add any extra sensors to the board (we only want to connect a small button), and are hoping to keep the PCB small.
As far as I understood from watching the video of your presentation at the TTN conference, altering the PCB size would mean that the antenna itself would also need to be altered.

Is it possible to slightly modify the UCA board for this purpose, or would a complete redesign of the antenna be needed for such a situation?

Thank you for your time,

~Marten/Qqwy

Test hope rf95

At least, i do not solder in pcb. I try to test in protoboard, but rf95 not respond.
How can i sure the module is ok?
