The Battlescribe data editor can cause problems when merging updates. Because of this, and also to avoid duplicated effort where multiple people are working on the same files, please join us on Discord before you commit changes to the files.
Previous editions: However we don't support older editions actively, the files are available from 8th Edition repo - also there you can find archived files for 8th, 7th, and 6th edition for BattleScribe v1.15. You also should upgrade your Windows XP to 10.

Description: The Forceshield on the Autarch is being costed as wargear, rather than as the ability it is displayed as in the index. The Autarch should have the 4+ invulnerable for no added cost instead of the 8 points it is showing in battlescribe.

Right now, when making a new Ynnari force, detachments can be selected normally, but those detachments only have the 3 native HQ choices (Yvraine, the Visarch, the Yncarne). There is no flow to create mixed detachments of Aeldari / Druhkari / Harlequins using the Ynnari heroes.
Currently confirmed with Dark Reapers and Dire Avengers, adding/subtracting basic models from the unit is not factoring in wargear.
A dire avenger should consist of its base cost (10) plus its avenger shuriken catapult (7). Subtracting a Dire Avenger from the unit results in a drop of 10 points (from 85 to 75). Dropping to one Dire Avenger leaves 45 points. (The cost of 1 DA + 5 catapults).
Conversely, adding Dire Avengers beyond the first increments the unit cost by 10.
The first Dire Avenger model added back to a completely empty Dire Avenger unit properly costs 17 points.

When I do to view on a roster I can't see profiles for models. See attached images. The title and points are all there but not the unit profiles.

Dark Reaper Aspect warrior cost problem. When a new one is added to the unit, Its cost does not include the Reaper Launcher weapon cost. 5 points versus 36.
Description: Create a Brigade Detachment of Astra Militarum. Create a tempestus scion squad. Put in 6 regular scions, and try to add 4 hotshot volley guns. It only allows for up to 2 of any type of special weapon, instead of 4. I tried deleting the tempestor and it still didn't work.
Description: Deathwatch Bikers, Vanguard Veterans, and Terminators are listed as only requiring 1 model to run them legally. Currently you have to run these units at the strength indicated in the data slate entries which is only correct for power level.
I would love an option to inculde the list of Orders with the roster.

Elite choice Commissar has no power point. Should be 2.
Astra Militarum Infantry Squad not labeled as troops and not correctly costed at 40pts base.
Heavy Weapon Team doesn't charge for crew (eg lascannon should be 28 points (20+4+4) because you have to remove 2 guardsman from the guardsmen section for it to validate)
Grenade Launcher is 1 pt too expensive at 10 points (should be 4+5 = 9)
Astra Militarum Flamer in Infantry Squad entry should be 11 points (4 for model 7 for the weapon) not 14points.

Too expensive - The 167 point starting cost should include a Leman Russ . You should only have to pay for the weapon options. Currently it makes you pay for a whole tank. A TC with a standard Russ (Battlecannon, lascannon, 2 x heavy bolters) should cost 225pts - presently he costs 392pts
Cost is all wrong - should start out as 177 plus weapons. Currently starts at 185 plus the cost of a whole tank.
No option for sponson weapons
Pask with a Battlecannon and Lascannon (currently there's no options for Heavy Bolters) should cost 219 pts - presently he costs 386pts
Tank Orders text is incorrect - Pask is able to give orders to a Character (although the Knight Commander rules text is correct)
Bullgryns are missing some options. They should be able to take a Grenadier Gauntlet & Bruteshield or a Power Maul and Slabshield. Also, it's not an ordianry Power Maul. It is a bullgryn maul.
Ratlings should be grouped. They have no options. Make their sniper rifle collective.
Master of Ordnance had no power point cost. Should be 2.
Description: Dark Angel List. Deathwing Terminators. The heavy weapon option for a Cyclone and a Storm Bolter causes my TH/SS terminator to have a Storm Bolter as well. I need those two points... :p

The key words “MUST”, “MUST NOT”, “REQUIRED”, “SHALL”, “SHALL NOT”, “SHOULD”, “SHOULD NOT”, “RECOMMENDED”, “MAY”, and “OPTIONAL” in this document are to be interpreted as described in RFC 2119.
Guidelines
Gst MUST NOT contain shared wargear entries, only profiles and rules for them. Different factions have differently priced things, no reason to make errors easier while changing values in future. Shared entries in gst (for wargear) are a bad idea. Profiles and rules (inlc. abilities) are ok, but wargear has so differing point costs, usage etc. every catalogue should define them separately (again, entries - they'd link to gst profiles and rules).
Catalogues SHOULD define all profiles and rules as shared and link to them where needed.
Catalogues MAY define shared entries for wargear that's used in multiple places in the same way.
Catalogues MUST define units as shared entries to be available for other purposes like validation etc.
Catalogues MUST link to shared entries that represent selectable choices and assign appropriate categories to these links.
Unaligned units MAY have gst shared entries and selection entry links.
Units with more than one top-faction keyword MAY have gst shared entries but MAY NOT have selection entry links [in the gst].
Non-Unaligned units MUST NOT have gst shared entries and selection entry links.
Sergeant/model choice RECOMMENDED implementation: an entry group named 'Members (min-max)' or similar with constraint on it min/max like datasheet says, commonly sergeant 0-1 and normal guys (min-1)-max. Validation is easier and roster edit view is nicer.
Units SHOULD be implemented in such a way that when adding unit to roster, it is a valid choice (no errors/warnings raised) and also resembles as close as possible the choice as presented by default in unit's datasheet.
Catalogues MUST be named according to following conventions. Faction refers to the most generic faction keyword shared by all units in catalogue, Sub-Faction is the most specific faction keyword shared by all units in catalogue. The template shown is for internal catalogue name, and should have .cat suffix for filename (don't use underscores).
{Faction} - use when there is no sub-faction (e.g. Tyranids, Necrons, Orks).
{Faction} - {Sub-Faction} - use for any catalogues which contain units from Faction's subfaction (e.g. Chaos, Imperium, Aeldari, Tyranids in case of Cults).
{Faction} - FW {Sub-Faction} - use when creating a separate catalogue for units published by Forge World.
Note that it is perfectly possible to have catalogue with just top faction and another with a subfaction within that faction, the perfect example being Tyranids who have the "main" catalogue, and a subfaction catalogue for Genestealer Cults.
Forge World publications SHOULD be incorporated into existing catalogues if they do not introduce new subfaction requiring it's own file.
Root selection entries SHOULD NOT be hidden by default - it obstructs discoverability and hinders UX; instead when invalid configuration occurs, a warning should be raised.
Forge World units SHOULD be considered mainline and not be tagged specifically (so no [FW] prefixes or suffixes, or similar) - instead, reference the source in unit profile's book field.

Ok so I think we should have some guidelines to standardize our catalogues come 8th edition. There were some suggestions that BS cats for 40k are very different in usage and one must learn every catalogue separately.
I think we should work on these guidelines and if resources allow, align our existing efforts to them before launch. I admit I've wanted to do it for quite some time now, but never made the first step. Better late than later right? :D
I hope we'll work out something that fits all of us (as far as that'll be possible) and provides the finest user experience we can provide.

Wracks: Should Acothyst's Haemonculus tools be 0-1 as he has to swap them for his Weapons of Torture option as per RAW? As the Acothyst has no ranged weapon, how can he swap it for Tools of Torment which is required RAW? I suggest RAI is that he swaps Haemonculus tools for one of the other options. Description: The Autarch shouldn't have to pay for the Forceshield as it is not listed as wargear for him in the index, merely as an ability. While this seems counter intuitive, RAW it isn't wargear for him and instead is an ability like warlock/farseer/spiritseer rune armour.
A tactical squad of less than 10 models may have 1 special or 1 heavy weapon, when you make a 5 man unit with a special, battlescribe says it is an error.

Description: Sky Claw pack leader can take melee weapons but has no options for them in your app. The wolf Guard pack leader for blood claws should be 16 points and not 13. The wolf Guard Sky leader should be 21 points and not 31.

Deathwing terminators can replace all weapons with a selection of options, e.g. twin lighting claws. They then can take an item from the heavy weapons list. You end up with a lightning clawed terminator that also wields an assault cannon. In earlier versions you had to replace your storm bolter, however this restriction just is not there anymore.

Lightning Claws - combi-bolter may be swapped for 1 lightning claw, then power fist may be swapped for another. Single lightning claws are 9pts but a pair is only 13pts. Even though these are equipped individually, once finished the model is equipped with a pair of LCs so 13pts seems the most likely cost.

The Ravager's Night Shield does not have the restriction to Ranged Weapons only. Given that every other instance of Night Shield does, this is probably a typo. The Drukhari cat includes the restriction.

RAW, the Acothyst in a unit of Wracks can take Tools of Torment. However, Tools of Torment states you must replace a ranged weapon, which the Acothyst does not have. Assume that he must replace his Haemonculus tools instead?

Spined Chaos Beast lists different powers for Khorne and Tzeentch keywords than are listed in datasheet. Assumed Khorne gets Unstoppable Ferocity instead of BftBG and Tzeentch gets Ephemeral Form instead of Architects of Fate, neither of which are listed in the book.

The new rules allow all psykers to choose the power or powers they know instead of rolling randomly. Might it be a good idea to add psychic powers as a new type of 'wargear,' and allow psychic units to select their power(s) from within the list?
Description: For the Chaos Daemons Faction the HQ choice Kairos Fateweaver is shown to have the Oracle of Eternity that confers a 4++ invulnerable save. He had that in the old 7th ed but he does not have that in the new 8th edition.
