Heyy there
I notice the applause doesn't update.
If we vote on our page here and then refresh, the count is back to one.
Can we fix that?
Thank you so much
Noticing this error on a WP install (fully updated) with latest Pages theme:
PHP Warning: Attempt to read property "post_parent" on null in <path-to-root>/wp-content/themes/pages/functions.php on line 163
Using the latest version of the theme, there is an issue with devices that have set a 'dark' theme as their default. This is most noticiable on phone devices, which set the 'dark' theme as a default that has to be overridden by the user to a 'light' theme.
If you view a Pages site with a phone browser (Chrome) that has dark setting enabled. (I noticed this on my Samsung Galaxy phone with the Chrome browser version 123.0.6312.99, If you go into the Settings for Chrome, then Theme, then look at System Default, there is a setting for Light and Dark, and the default is to use "System Default", which says "Turn on dark theme when your device's dark theme or battery saver is on'.
If the browser settings are set to Dark, then the body text (which has CSS 'color:blank') is reversed so there is a black background and black text. So the text in the body area is not visible. Note that you can't see this in the emulator in browsers when you select any phone device.
There isn't, according to the MSDN docs, a way to force a 'light' mode. You can sense whether the light/dark mode is on (see https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/@media/prefers-color-scheme ) as the user's preferred color scheme, but there is no way to force into 'light' mode.
Now, you can specify a light and dark mode for CSS colors, see https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/color_value/light-dark . This would require changing the CSS for all colors to include a color setting; see the example in the light-dark link.
So, the issue is that Pages will not have visible body text if the device is set to dark mode - the text color will be black on black background. And that causes site content visibility with the Pages theme when used on devices that have their preference set to 'dark' mode, either by default or by user preference.
Note that you have to view this issue on a phone device that has dark mode set in Chrome. It is not visible in the Developer Mobile emulation mode.
Hello there.
I'm using your "Pages" free theme and I had one issue and one curious item.
Issue: it seems that my custom menu link (which is really just a way of gathering like items) doesn't work on a mobile device. On the desktop is works perfectly (Legal stuff menu item, which houses my Privacy Policy, Disclaimer, and Terms pages). On the mobile, it's always extended (so it shows both the "Legal Stuff" link and everything under it, without me selecting it). The menu itself seems to open and close fine. It's just that menu item that won't close.
Curious item: I was curious if there was an easy way to disable the sidebar. Do I just remove everything from it and it goes away? Or is there a button somewhere that I can select to hide or show the sidebar?
I appreciate your help and the theme itself. Thanks in advance.
I am using WordPress 5.9.
I am looking to use Post Formats in my sites.
When I search the themes with "Post Formats" filter.
Block Builder pops up in the results, however in the editor there is no field to select Post Format.
Just investigating your plugin on a test site. One page of the site is a slide show / full page thing (slide show via Smart Slider plugin).
The Creative template works for that, although it would be nice to have the ability for the menu bar to be displayed at the top.
Perhaps a "Creative with Menu Bar at Top" template could be added?
Lots of great features in your theme - still poking around it, but looks useful for one of my project sites.
Thanks....Rick...
Hello,
I love your theme. Finally somewhere we can have better control of what we put on our website.
I am trying to minimize a maximum of what is displayed on the homepage but i can't seem to get rid of the space allocated to the widgets next to the header and footer.
Basically all i need is a a header and footer that repeat on all pages. with images in the footer and a drop down menu with an image on the header.
I may just edit the Css file of the theme. First i wanted to check with you, if there was a button to remove the widget space.
Thank you
I am using the free 'Pages' theme for a non-profit website. Has an update been released recently for this theme? The site has been up and running for over 6 months, but in the last week or two an issue arose with the sub-menus on my main menu. When you hover over one of the menu options that contain sub-menus, the dropdown for the sub-menus open up, but they are hidden behind the page being displayed. You can see the first option in the sub-menu, but none of the other options.
Here is the url for the site: www.wipost149.org
You can view the site to see what is happening. I just wanted to check if something changed recently to cause this or if you have a suggestion for a fix.
Thanks!
