About

Florae is a free application that will allow you to keep track of the care of your plants while respecting your freedom and privacy.

It is proven that having plants in rooms keeps you healthier and happier. They raise the air quality and humidity, absorb toxic substances and can improve productivity and concentration.

Growing them and taking care of them is relatively simple but requires responsibility and being aware of the requirements of irrigation, pruning, cleaning, etc.

This app allows you to manage all the care of your plants and receive notifications when they require it.

Development

This application is entirely built with Flutter, and its operation is only oriented to Android devices, this is due to some dependencies used for the alerts/notifications system and the restrictions in the iOS environment to issue them without proprietary dependencies.

Notifications

Notifications may not be delivered correctly or may not be delivered at all, because some mobile device manufacturers integrate very aggressive battery optimizations that do not respect the original Android APIs. This makes it impossible for developers to universally implement applications that run tasks in the background.

For this case a background activity is launched with a user-configurable frequency to analyze the plant database and check if any of them require attention and issue the corresponding notification.

If your device is among those affected and notifications are not displayed, please consult: Don't kill my app!

Languages

Florae is currently translated into the following languages: English, Español and Français thanks to Samuel Pernet.

If you wish to contribute to Florae by adding a new language, just include the translation file in lib/l10n. I will be happy to accept your pull request.

[Feature Request] Add watering suggestions

It would be great if some sort of watering/fertilizing suggestions could be implemented based on the plant name, pot size and the soil type like how Blossom and Planta handle that.
There are some formulas that app can use to calculate watering needs. The first thing the app needs is a database of common popular plants and map the entries to a factor which could later be included into the formula.

Are there any plans to publish Florae via F-Droid?

[Bug] Day planted field's value is reset to Today when editing plant info

Steps to Reproduce

Open Florae
Add a new plant
Set day planted to a past date -> Save
Open Created plant -> Click edit
Scroll down to Day Planted Field

Expected Behavior

Day planted Field Should keep it's original value the was given while creating the plant

Current Behavior

Day planted Field is disabled and it's value is set to today's date, and user can't do anything about it

[Feature Request] Tablet Support

A simple way to reduce the scale of the plant grid would be all this needs to be tablet-friendly :)

[Feature Request] Conditional notifications

I would like it to be possible for the app to notify me when I'm home only. This could take the form of :

Setting specific days and time periods to allow/prevent notifications
Detecting the home WiFi and notify only when it's in range.

An oled theme for this would be wonderful, thinking of having an always-on tablet in my home hosting Florae for our plants and I'd like to save energy

[Feature Request] Allow sorting your garden by alphabetical order

Title says most of it. It would be nice to be able to sort the plants in the "garden" tab by alphabetical order.

Larger Time Spans

I have an aloe vera that I do not fertilize but would like to repot in fresh soil every 2-3 years. Currently you can select a maximum of 60 days as transplant period.

Can you imagine increasing the input method to something greater than 60, e.g. 720 (or 999)? I think this should have no impact on how good one can select small numbers, but make the app more flexible :)

Seasonal (Fertilisation) Reminders

Different schedules depending on season would be great, especially for fertilisation (e.g. fertilise only from april to october) but also for watering. Otherwise great app, thank you! :)

[Feature Request] Import/Export to File

I am currently switching Devices and noticed there is no Import / Export to/from File is not available.

I'll keep you posted if copying the Folder in /Android/ works, but from a Usability perspective, an Import Export Function would be a great feature!
