voicevolumeoverride's Introduction

VoiceVolumeOverride

A NeosModLoader mod for Neos VR that allows you to adjust your microphone input volume in game.

This will no longer be needed once Neos-Metaverse/NeosPublic#2656 is resolved.

Installation

  1. Install NeosModLoader.
  2. Place VoiceVolumeOverride.dll into your nml_mods folder. This folder should be at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\NeosVR\nml_mods for a default install. You can create it if it's missing, or if you launch the game once with NeosModLoader installed it will create the folder for you.
  3. Start the game. If you want to verify that the mod is working you can check your Neos logs.

Usage

You will need a settings management mod like NeosModSettings to configure this mod. Simply set the volume multiplier to your desired value.

FAQ

Doesn't the built in voice normalization do this automatically?

Yes, but sometimes you don't want normalization. For example, if you want to be able to whisper without being amplified up to shouting volume.

Why is this needed?

Some microphone hardware is simply quieter than it needs to be. You can't turn your microphone up higher than 100% in Windows/SteamVR, so software amplification is needed.
