Anki Chrome Extension for Vocabulary Addition (En2Jp)

This Chrome extension allows you to easily add vocabulary words to your Anki deck while browsing the web. With a simple right-click on a selected word, you can quickly create a new note in your Anki deck, complete with the word's definition and example sentences.

Installation

  1. Clone or download this repository to your local machine.
  2. Open the Chrome browser and navigate to chrome://extensions.
  3. Enable "Developer mode" using the toggle switch in the top right corner.
  4. Click on "Load unpacked" and select the directory containing the downloaded repository.
  5. The this Chrome Extension should now be installed and ready to use.

Usage

  1. Make sure Anki is running on your computer and the Anki-Connect add-on is installed and enabled.
  2. Select a word on any webpage, right-click, and choose Add to Anki from the context menu.
  3. The extension will fetch the word's definition and example sentences and create a new note in your specified Anki deck.
  4. Open Anki to review the newly added vocabulary word.

Settings

You can customize the following settings by clicking on the extension icon in the Chrome toolbar:

  • Deck Name : Specify the name of the Anki deck where new vocabulary notes will be added. Default is "Default".
  • Note Type Name : Specify the name of the note type to be used for new vocabulary notes. Default is "Basic".

Important Notes

  • This extension only works with the English version of Anki. Make sure you have the English version installed and set up on your computer.
  • This extension currently supports only English-Japanese vocabulary. It uses an English-Japanese dictionary file to fetch definitions and example sentences.
  • The extension requires the Anki-Connect add-on to be installed and enabled in Anki. Please make sure you have set up Anki-Connect correctly before using this extension.

  • The English-Japanese dictionary file used in this extension is sourced from JMdict.
