I use Ubuntu 14.04 and ST3. When I download your package from Package Manager, settings I wrote are not overriding and regular functions such show sidebar on tab change is not working. Other functions are working erratically. I removed it and manually install by creating a new file under User/ directory. Copy the py file to it. It works amazing. Just let you know.

If a single file is open on a new window, and a folder doesn't exist, the sidebar never hides.
Would be great if the sidebar was closed automatically when a window doesn't have folders.

Steps to replicate

1. Auto hide the sidebar
2. Press CMD + Shift + R to show the side bar.

From now the behaviour becomes quite eratic until it either works itself out or I explicitly hide the sidebar.

For e.g At this point if I select a different file, the sidebar immediately hides and then Auto SHOWs when 5 characters are typed.

I am having a lot of trouble configuring this addon. I am not sure where to put the settings. I tried to create AutoHideSidebar.sublime-settings file, and putting there, didnt work. I put it in my preferences and it still doesnt work.

I saw in the code that AutoHideSidebar file was loaded but it doesnt seem to be used.

I compulsively save files every few keys so I need to disable show on save setting.
