Shift, Z, CTRL, and ESC keys not functioning properly

Hi there ๐Ÿ‘‹ super excited you were able to work through a solution with the Teensy 2.0 board and I am currently attempting to do the same. One item I have encountered is the shift, z, ctrl, caps lock, and esc keys are not functioning.

Serial Monitor in Teensyduino IDE doesn't register any changes and keeps the pin at either HIGH or LOW depending on what the initial state was identified in the code. For keys z and esc there is nothing being registered at all value wise.

I have maneuvered through the code removing caps lock and adjusting a variety of other pieces as well with no luck. So far I have been able to use digitalWrite/read if I take connector 24 from the iie and skip the shift register straight to the teensy on the unused D3 which will then allow the shift to work but it takes a second or two before the state changes back to LOW and the keystrokes are back to lowercase. It also is a little buggy and will randomly capitalize as you type. Obviously not ideal but part of the testing I suppose.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
