Thanks for the link, I wasn't aware of that. I haven't tried it out yet, but I don't think that it will be too difficult to implement so I'll try to do so soon!

This would be a nice addition, but I unfortunately don't think it will be possible in the foreseeable future. I don't personally like having VLC as a dependency since it has such a large footprint, but it has an official Python library which makes it really easy to work with. If mpv got one, or if I get around to adding support for external players, it would probably be first on the list, but I don't think it will be anytime soon.
