If you enable permanent day, logout and log back in to minetest you will find that during the night pday is not working but appears to be enabled. If you click on the ptime button in the inventory to cycle, you will immediately be put into 'permanent night' which is normallly the 2nd option. Hope this makes sense.

Would it be possible to re-add the chat commands to enable permanent day, night or disabled? This could be useful if unified inventory does not exist, or in order to save time. Not a big deal though, feel free to close this issue if you feel its not a necessary feature.
