RPG Styled UI

Foundry VTT DnD5e RPG Styled UI

A simple styling for FoundryVTT in black and red. Includes:

  • Chat layout.
  • Dialog Boxes Layout
  • Character Sheet
  • NPC Sheet
  • Integration with Combat Carousel

Originally made it for a campaign I run for friends and thought to make it commercial later on, but... I'm so grateful to all the developers of free modules for Foundry, so I decided to release completely free.

rpg-styled-ui's Issues

Some Problems with the german layout

Hey, at first thank you for this cool UI.

I have got some Problem when i use the german DnD module. The NPC Sheet cuts somethink of on the bottom of the sheet. Also one Text is a little bit to big.

Remove the Foundry VTT Label

If it is possible to remove the Foundry VTT Label in the Top-Left corner. or at the very least have it be default with the Logo

Support for GM Screen

First of all, love the UI. I don't think I can go back to the vanilla one.

I noticed an issue with GM Screen module.
GM Screen normally shrunk its size and the GM button based on the size of the right menu.
image

However, with Dark RPG styled enabled, after you minimizes the right menu and bring its back to normal size again, the GM Screen is stuck.
image

I hope you have time to sort it out. I love both modules and really want to use them together.

Feature Request - Toggle Chat Box Background

Hi,
This module is SUPER cool! Love the feel it gives the game. :D
We'd love to keep pretty much all of it, expect the part that changes the chat background to black (which has made reading some of the rolls hard.
Would it be possible to have a toggle (maybe at the player level) that turns the mod on/off just for the chat log?
(or maybe an option for parchment background instead of black?)
With so many mod integrations, it might be easier to just toggle the chat log than have compatibility with every mod that outputs to chat. :p

Remove the color: inherit on .discarded

Hi, love the mod, thanks for the great work you do on it.

Is it possible to remove the color: inherit style on .discarded? When we roll with advantage/disadvantage you can't see the dice result of the discarded roll. Currently the only way to see it is to find it and turn it off in the elements with each roll.

Thanks

Implement support for FVTT-Custom-Journal-Theming

rpg styled ui and other Journal UI themes have conflict issues

I do enjoy your journal UI, but it would be nice I could change it theme of them for handouts

a possible and probably the easiest solution is to make an optional journal theme for "rpg styled ui" and not the default

Hello !
With the new version of DnD, there is a little problem in the progress window, the links to the abilities are almost unreadable. :)
It's only when you haven't taken the levels yet, if you level up it becomes readable.

That's it! Thanks to you. :)

Module not v9 compatible

You probably know but here it is anyway.
The module breaks CSS in v9.

image

As you can see, the right handside menu CSS is repeated over the complete canvas.

Have a nice holiday.

Chat tabs

Some modules create several tabs in Chat Lag, for example module Damage Log. Currently it looks out of place.
image

Two issue and one request. :)

Hello !

Already thank you for this UI which I think is beautiful, it is perfect for fantasy and travel in Middle Earth. :D

I post below two small problems that I encounter, the first one comes from Midi Qol, more precisely the application map and damage calculation in the chat:
image

As you can see, you can't see the chosen option very well, except when clicking on it:
image

So much for the first problem. The second one is from the compendium, the sidebar that allows you to climb up and down has become all black:
image

And it doesn't matter where you are in the compendium, there is no more location marker.

And the small request now, it turns out that the "links" in the articles are a little too white (image below), and I would like to make tests of colour to perhaps make them a little more black at home but I do not know much about it, would it be possible to know the line to modify to make these tests? I'd like to do some colour tests to make them a bit blacker at home but I don't know much about it.

Thanks for reading! :)

Suggested Feature - On/Off Toggle

Good day. I'm loving this module and had a suggestion for its future development based on some of my player feedback.

4 of my 5 players love the UI and the feel it gives to Foundry. It had a huuuge splash at our last session. Unfortunately, that 1 player that doesn't love the UI has problems with their vision, and the colors and sizing of the UI make it difficult for that player to read everything on the screen. Because of this, I will likely need to stop the use of the UI for that campaign.

My suggestion would be to have a toggle in the settings where the Players can choose to turn the UI on or off. Providing that level of choice to each user would be incredible. Right now, if I turn the module on, every user is forced to use the UI, so in a situation where even a single player has an issue w/ the interface, I have to turn it off for everyone.

I'm not a dev and have no idea how much work would go into that. Just thought I'd suggest this as a feature for future development. It would allow GMs with users with various vision disabilities to still let their other players enjoy your incredible work.

Module compatibility and override issue and Combat carousel

Hi,

Now that I got the module working, I was wondering if it was compatible with Minimal UI because there seem to be some strange dispositions going on. My macro bar is all the way to the right, the player list also is a bit to the right and not really in the corder. Also, the pause menu logo seems to be overridden as I selected a custom one in Minimal UI. Same for the Foundry logo in the corner. In Minimal UI and your module I disabled it, but the navigation stays to the right instead of taking the vacant place. Is it a compatibility issue?
Capture d’écran 2022-01-03 à 16 22 18

Also, about Combat Carousel, love the new design of the UI but I just saw that it's not possible anymore to roll initiative from the red dice button that was on the token image. Now we have to either go into the combat tracker menu to roll initiative or to input it manually.

Rolltable text description.

Hello,
I'd like to point out a small bug. When we launch a random table, the descriptive text is very (too?) dark, it's almost unreadable. :)

"This is a test sentence"

Thank you !

Secret/Blind/Whisper Chat Colors

In base Foundry, different types of messages have slightly differently colored text/borders/background, to give a visual indication of who can read it.
I would love to still have this functionality in RPG UI.

image
image

Color properties for level up button

The auto leveler button (which is default black) only shows up on the sheet as a white border box making it hard to tell the purpose of the box.
image

Otherwise, love the look and feel of everything. Looks great!

Placement of "Use Crit Damage" popup

Hey there,

is there a way for you to place the "Use Crit Damage" popup somewhere more "centered"?
I had it multiple times now, that I was wondering why I couldn't apply the damage until I noticed this small little popup way out of my sight. :D

image

If not. No worries. I'll probably will get used to it at some point in the distant future. ^^

Navigation Bar positioning off

Since the last update (0.7.3) the Navigation bar is shifter almost off the screen (see screen shot). Also it seems like the Combat Carcelle icon is not being resized.

Request to retain intact left-side menu and Foundry menu

Hello,

Thank you so much for developing this module. As someone who has extreme photophobia due to damaged irises, I appreciate the dark colored UI I can use, which is otherwise not possible with Foundry.

I was filing this request so that an option could be included to leave the left-hand side menu intact, along with the Foundry logo (dice and anvil). I like its appearance, as I'm fond of the product, and would like to continue seeing its logo as I run my games.

Thanks for reading!

Clash with Alternative Pause Icon

I noticed that the pause icon is changed when activation this module. In itself fine, though it seems to clash with another module called Alternative Pause Icon. If I select another icon in Alternative Pause Icon, I get a messed up pause icon
image

Not sure if it is this module or the other module that is causing the issue.

Chat background doesn´t support sidebar resizing

Hi Xbozon,

your UI is something I was looking for a looong time. Amazing and very well suited for my DnD Ravenloft campaigns.

There is one thing I would really love to see tweaked and it is the background image of chat window. If you resize the chat via modules available for FVTT (f. e. Sidebar and Chat Resizing), the background is getting "repeated" instead of "extended", which creates a white gap between repeated backgrounds. In our group, we play only via chat (no V/C) and resizing is almost mandatory to avoid missing messages. But sometimes, it is difficult to read messages because of that white "gap".

Another really minor thing is a compatibility with Minimal UI module. It works pretty fine, the only thing which is not optimal, is behavior of macro/shortcut bar. In case of your UI, it is not possible to move the macro bar to the left/right with Minimal UI configuration. It stays in the center, regardless of the config, and it overlaps with my favourite Monk´s TokenBar. Currently, I use Auto-Hide, but maybe it is just and easy fix, so... ,) Other parts of the UI are configurable with Minimal UI just fine.

Thanks for your amazing job!

Support Beyond20 Chat Cards

Hey,

Love the UI skin, I noticed the chat cards that come in through Beyond20 could use some tweaking.

image

Most things look fine, just seems like the title / roll display could be a lighter color. It'd be nice if the dice roll box border was muted like the standard 5e character sheet rolls.

image

Once I figure out how to view the CSS classes of those chat cards and work with the canvas, I could likely assist with this one and make a PR. My cursory search on where to start in FVTT did not yield fruit.

Incompatibility with Combat Carousel 2.1

Hi! Loving the module and all my players have been obsessed with it. However, Combat Carousel just updated to 2.1 and it breaks with this module as the alignment is off for the hp and initiative count and it moves to the left. Luckily I can revert back to an older version of Combat Carousel but hope you can fix this at your earliest convenience!

Bug with whole UI

Hi,

I tried to use your UI because I really love the design but when I launch my game, the chat part gets replicated on the whole screen.

By the way, I have no other module activated.

High contrast option

Hi. I'm really a fan of the look of this skin in general, but I have some minor complaints.

The theme seems a bit too dark with not enough contrast. This isn't a big problem when playing at night on a dark map, but under certain conditions, such as:

  • the map is bright
  • there's sun shining outside and it's shining right onto my monitor

this theme's lack of contrast makes things a bit hard to read. Few examples:

  • In this example, there's no place on the map that would be darker than the text in either item window or the chat sidebar (ignore the orange bit and the font, i've got custom fonts everywhere and custom colors on classless h1-h6 tags):
    slika

The leftmost window, for comparison, is tidy5e with dark mode. Thanks to the higher contrast, text is significantly more readable there.

Similar thing applies to journal, where the paper is rather dark by default:
slika

I feel that brighter background and brighter text would make the theme much more readable:
slika

Problem with DAE

So, the ui completely f*cks DAE active affects window. Since DAE is one of the biggest mods for Foundry, that's kind of a deal breaker XD Hope this gets fixed as the ui is gorgeous and its a shame not to be able to use it!
The Darkness Consumes

Dropdown controls for Monk's Enhanced Journal are being disabled

While doing some testing with Monk's Active Journal I found that some dropdown controls he implements on the forms are being disabled by the UI. Monk tracked down the CSS line.

css line 896 .journal-sheet form select should be changed to .journal-sheet form select[name="folder"]

[Visual Improvement] White text on parchment not ideal

Foundry: 10.286
System: 5e v2.0.3

The readability with the white text on the parchment background is not ideal. Is the a chance to make the text more readable?

image

Thank you for putting your module out there. It really enhanced my Curse of Strahd Campaign.

[Feature] Theme Presets

I would love to see a drop down with different theme/color options.

I attempted to make a custom version of this with a blue/parchment feel for a nautical campaign i am running, but it somehow pulls the red and black regardless of the converted/changed UI elements in mine.

Figured, you actually know what your doing, would be cool to have some options depending on the style of campaign being run!

No DnD 5e integration

would it be possible to make a version without the D'n'D 5e features pls so people could use it with other game systems?

[Styling Bug] Right menu panel slides a bit down

Once the module is active. The sidepanel slides down a bit.
I hope it comes across on the following screenshots.

Here you can see, the buttons almost touch the browser UI.
grafik

Here you can see a noticiable gap between the buttons and the browser UI

I understand that the background graphic needs some space, but maybe it can be optimized a bit. If you think it's fine.
Just close this issue. ;)

compatibility warnings V10

Since Foundry V10, I'm getting some issues. Somme minor ones, but issues nonetheless.

Some text boxes are too dark

Hello. New user to the theme and I thoroughly enjoy the aesthetics of it all.

However some parts of it can be a bit too dark. I'm not quite sure if this happens in more areas than just the use case I ran into, but for a custom macro that creates a text input field for users to whisper to other players, the <textarea> box is nearly pitch black and it's nearly impossible to read what the user types.

In an ideal situation, it would be splendid if we had the ability to alter colors or shades of darkness for the different areas of the UI, but reading through some of the other issues posted on here and learning a bit of what goes into rendering the theme for us, it makes it seem like that kind of functionality is impractical for now. But even with this minor hitch, the theme is of fantastic quality and I hope we can see some nice improvements to this UI theme!

Pathfinder 2 compatibility ?

Hello Hello,

I love your Ui, it's very nice and beautiful.
Would it be possible for you to add compatibility with PF2 please?

thanks in advance

Incompatible with Illandril's Hotbar Uses

Hello!

This is my new favorite UI, but the module above does not work with it.
I like to see all the uses and charges for items, and the changes to the hotbar makes those no longer show up.

Players section readability

The bottom left "Players" menu needs some love. On light background is barely readable.
image
Maybe white font with black outline would help?

404 error on downloading texture.png

The texture.png file is requested in download with the name in uppercase (Texture.png), but the file name is lowercase:
This is a problem if Foundry is installed on a case-sensitive operating system:

Combat Carousel Button

Love the UI! Just a quick bug to report. The Combat Carousel button in the sidebar is white rather than the greyish yellow color of all the other buttons. The backround of the button is fine, but the actual CC icon is white. Doesn't break anything, but thought I'd report it all the same. Thanks for this amazing release!

Compact mode overlap with logo

When the Compact mode is toggled on the left menu gets covered by the logo.
image
It's the same whether the Standard logo is toggled on or off.
I tried to test if it could be a conflict with one of my 80 other modules and the problem persisted with all other modules turned off.

[Not an issue per se] Horizontal scene navigation

Hey, the UI looks super cool. I think it's gonna fit the Curse of Strahd game I'm going to be running in a few months. I just hate the vertical UI. Could you, please, at least make some setting where we could choose how we want it? Honestly it's the only thing that's potentially keeping me from going with the UI in the CoS.
