I see in the app-conference source that there is a reference in the VenueViewModel.cs a comment:
//TODO: Does Xamarin.Essentials support this?
Is this supported yet? I am trying to convert from a sandbox app using Xamarin.Forms.Maps to Xamarin.Essentials. If you happen to have a simple sample of how this works from ViewModel to XAML page that would be great. Alternatively if Essentials does not support if you could let me know an estimated if and when. Thanks much!

When chaging the Detail Page of the Master-Detail Page on line https://github.com/xamarinhq/app-evolve/blob/master/src/XamarinEvolve.Clients.UI/Pages/Android/RootPage.cs#L89 this causes flickering inside my app, eventho I cannot spot a similar behaviour in the version I downloaded from the playstore. Can anyone explain this to me and maybe even provide a fix?
Im using the WM10 app and it doesn't list any session and it says "No sessions found".
Version 1.1.9
Hello,
I can't build the iOS version, whereas the Android version works fine.
I have restored all the NuGets packages, and all the Components seem to be correctly installed.
I get these following errors:
Native linking failed. Please review the build log.
(XamarinEvolve.iOS //C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Xamarin\iOS\Xamarin.iOS.Common.targets 681)
Native linking error: file not found: /Users/Xxx/Library/Caches/Xamarin/mtbs/builds/XamarinEvolveiOS/67a3fe1aa3172176a9205b8a492d7e3b/obj/iPhoneSimulator/Debug/mtouch-cache/GoogleAppIndexing
(XamarinEvolve.iOS //C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Xamarin\iOS\Xamarin.iOS.Common.targets 681)
On the Mac, a file "GoogleAppIndexingResources.bundle" is present in the given folder.
I don't find any detail in my logs...
Do you have any idea?
Xamarin.GooglePlayServices.Base version in metadata is old and when we update also does not work, downgrade to one in metadata won't work.
We constantly get this following error.
Did not find reference matching RestoreAssemblyResources Assembly Name metadata 'Xamarin.GooglePlayServices.Basement'
Any idea how to fix?
hi,
just a question. i cant find out how i can disable the animation on detail page change event!?
on the Evolce app in google play store there is no animation. however, if i clone your app i see always an animation on detail page changed (android)
thanks
Hi folks!
We have been looking around for a service but we can't find any docs in Xamarin evolve codebase related to Auth service you use for SSO. Can you point out how we can get started with that?

I'm sorry to use this topic for a question like StackOverflow, but I'm trying to create a page like the Info page of iOS conference page, but I have an "error" that I don't know how to resolve and don't Know the best place to ask for a help.
So, my problem is very simple. I use the NonScrollableListView in my app, but in the app conference, at the last item of the ListView, the Separator is hidden and showed only footer divider. I tried use same behaviour at my app, but both Separator and FooterDivider is visible. How can I fix that?
A customer reported that after updating the nuget packages, the build was failing.
I traced the errors down to three changes in Xamarin.Essentials:
When first cloning the repo, some troubleshooting has to be done on the user's part to run the Android tests. This is because the apk path in the AppInitializer
class has the incorrect filename (com.sample.evolve-Signed.apk
), which needs to be updated to com.xamarin.xamarinevolve-Signed.apk
.
The sessions screen keeps crashing, it seems that the ListView control of XamarinForms has performance problems. (Samsung Galaxy J3 and ASUS ZenFone 2)
After cleaning & rebuilding each project, still getting issues (build errors) with GcmService.cs I am using vs.net 2017 rc (latest)
It looks like reference Microsoft.WindowsAzure.Messaging.Android is missing as well

I was wondering how one could visually add controls, it seems that there is no storyboard file in the repo.
The authentication used to work with Xamarin.com ids, but, now it does not recognize this id or a current Microsoft.com ID. Is the authentication path still functional?
Hi
Is it possible to share the database structure of the project? It will be really helpful if you share Azure settings required for the project?
Regards
SMC
Just wondering if you know where this app is in the stores.
Also does xamarin forms work on macOS ?
Lot of the areas of the code are not properly documented which, considering it's an open source project, makes it hard to learn from without reading every single line of code. Plus a few empty classes around the project.
Dear colleagues,
I am trying to enrich this project with accessibility elements. I can not deal with the problem of describing the HamburgerMenu button. Please help. How can I set the ContentDescription for this item? Thanks for help!
(for future reference)
There seems to be a typo in the CardView class that extends Frame.
`public CardView()
{
Padding = 0;
if (Device.OS == TargetPlatform.iOS || Device.OS == TargetPlatform.iOS)
{
HasShadow = false;
OutlineColor = Color.Transparent;
BackgroundColor = Color.Transparent;
}
}`
Second check should be Android (?) instead of iOS.

Can someone please give me some guidance on how to run this app's backend on localhost.
I have change the following => mock data = false and I changed the xamarin azure cloud string to http://localhost:51800 and inserted
ValidAudiences = new[] { "http://localhost" },
ValidIssuers = new[] { "http://localhost" },
TokenHandler = config.GetAppServiceTokenHandler()
The app compile fine and runs against the mock data and the xamarin cloud, but when i change the connection string to run against http://localhost:51800/ I get the following error :

Hi guys
I am fairly new with Xamarin and even greener with Azure.
I understand "some" basics around Azure and Xamarin integration: like what it takes to configure Azure-Xamarin link + Azure+Xamarin push notifications (but limited to sending test notifications from Azure portal) + Authentication (via social media services)+ Easy Tables integration (with basic CRUD operations). This is all with a Node.js Azure back-end. I have no experience with .Net back-end. In this example; James states; he provide's a back-end for use, my question is how exactly do I take this back-end solution and make it my own within a Node.js configuration?
James's comment regarding just adding MY OWN push notification keys + MY OWN Authentication (not sure does it also address Authorization) keys. I understand this, but is it really that simple to get theee aspects up-and-running?
Currently all strings are hard coded making it hard to update and extend to new platforms. Should be pulled into a different project (PCL) with resx files.

Hi
I m a seasoned developer (c#/wpf) moving into mobile development and I have downloaded most of your apps .
Very helpful but i have noticed that standards are not followed
Please could you clarify whether why you are not following standards?
many thanks
Hi, first of all I would like to express my gratitude, and appreciation at the people who made all the xamarin examples and samples.
I downloaded the source code, and read the "Getting Started" that it should be fine building it right out of the box after restoring the NuGet packages. However, I'm getting a few errors such as:
CS0103 The name 'InitializeComponent' does not exists in the current context.
CS0103 The name 'LabelName' does not exists in the current context.
The above errors are all occurring in the XamarinEvolve.Clients.UI - CategoryViewCell.xaml.cs file.
In both Android and iOS projects. I'm very new to Xamarin and C#.Net. I am trying XamarinEvolve because I would like to study the codes and see how it all works in a MasterDetail view.
17-Nov-2016:
Update on the issue. After cleaning and rebuilding. Now there's another error which states:
CS0103 The name 'Koush' does not exists in the current context - Xamarin.Android NavigationViewRenderer.cs
I am evaluating Xamarin but can't get the iOS version to build. All other examples including MyDriving build fine. Thanks

The encoding of the twitter messages needs some encoding love. The RSS feed shows an '&' in a Twitter message as & a m p ; (without the spaces)
Formerly, I am able to build this solution in both Xamarin Studio (Alpha channel) and Visual Studio for Mac. However, in the latest version of XS and VS for Mac Preview 4, both pop an error related to missing icon resource:
/Users/hungys/Workspace/Xamarin Studio/app-evolve/src/XamarinEvolve.iOS/Resources/Images.xcassets/AppIcons.appiconset/Icon-58.png: Error: File not found: /Users/hungys/Workspace/Xamarin Studio/app-evolve/src/XamarinEvolve.iOS/Resources/Images.xcassets/AppIcons.appiconset/Icon-58.png (XamarinEvolve.iOS)
Did anyone encounter this build error?
Hello,
I am looking at exploring the app but I am stuck at a place now:
app-conference/src/Conference.Backend/Web.config
There is mention of aspnet-Conference.Backend-20151029080950.mdf file which I am unable to find. I reached this file while looking to setup my own backend locally.
I would appreciate if someone can assist on this further, please.
Hi
I am new in Xamarin, but I like to build conference mobile app, and I found this app-evolve which I like it very much.
How can I connect tweets, login and azure data to the application?
Thanks
Great and nice app,
but in different devices it taske about 8 seconds to start (cold boot)
This thing makes it definitely criticized in a stores where apps need to be reactive and smart.
There any to way to speed up or make splashscreen more interactive (for example with simple animations)
Thanks
Currently, data must be manually uploaded or modified in the database. It would be nice to have an ASP.NET admin website that could be deployed for conference admins to add and upload data.
Any chance this would be updated to support Xamarin Forms 4, Shell, and newer items like Xamarin Essentials?
I'm using Visual Studio 2015 with all the latest Xamarin components (Tools, Options, Xamarin, Other) installed. I cannot build XamarinEvolve.Clients.Portable because its .csproj file is looking for ..\packages\FormsToolkit.1.1.14. However, the src\XamarinEvolve.Clients.Portable\packages.config file specifies FormsToolkit.1.1.18.
Am I doing something wrong or have others gotten this to build?
Rob
When running the evolve app on my device running Android 7.0, the submissions page only shows the filter icon and the option to search the list of events is not displayed.
When I try the same code on a 6.0 device, it works fine. Updating the support libraries and other components with the current code base creates a lot of code breakages so in the apps current iteration, that is not an option unless everything gets updated.
I downloaded the project (master branch) and did a rebuild (unloaded the UWP and iOS projects). My setup: VS Studio 2015 Community with Xamarin, all updated to the latest version.
I got 11 Errors, related to Gcm
, eg. The type or namespace name 'GcmServiceBase' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
When I look at the references for the Android project, I see an exclamation mark next to Microsoft.WindowsAzure.Messaging.Android
and UrlImageViewHelper
, so these dlls are missing. Any tips on how to fix this?
Thanks for sharing your code with the community, it's great to have insight in a real case!
Can someone provide some details on backend deployment? Thanks
I keep getting error trying to use tabbed version for Android instead of master detail page.
Can I use RootPageIOS for Android or do I need to do something different?
Thanks James for all you do!
Hi guys,
We all are waiting for next version of evolve and like other companies such an app (Google I/O) we expected to see newer version of Evolve at 2017, because these kinds of apps are references for developers (as you know) but as evolve has no update till now, we are disappointing continue on Xamarin platform.
I was checking out this article and noticed that the link to http://hockeyapp.net is missing the "e" in hockey.
I've downloaded quite a few sample apps and NONE of them are compiled. Updated NuGet didn't help either.
Hi,
Trying to build the backend project in VS for mac 7.0 (build 3148) and the following error appears:
/Users/daniel/Documents/Xamarin/app-evolve/src/XamarinEvolve.Backend/XamarinEvolve.Backend.csproj(3,3): Error MSB4019: The imported project "/Library/Frameworks/Mono.framework/Versions/5.0.0/lib/mono/xbuild/Microsoft/VisualStudio/v15.0/WebApplications/Microsoft.WebApplication.targets" was not found. Confirm that the path in the declaration is correct, and that the file exists on disk. (MSB4019) (XamarinEvolve.Backend)
The solution is here: http://stackoverflow.com/a/43985605
Thanks.
Fails to build in Alpha channel. (No idea if it is related to that ATM)
VS 2015 Update 2 in Alpha channel fails at the end with:

C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Xamarin\iOS\Xamarin.iOS.Common.targets(680,3): error : Native linking failed. Please review the build log.
Package Manager Console is clear. Other iOS apps build fine.
Can someone tell me where more detailed Build logs might be?
I understand this project is old; given the developments around Visual Studio. .NET and Xamarin.Forms.
I would like to get this project up and running with backend on Azure; then start updating/modernize it given new developments. I am using VS for Mac (community edition); is it at all possible to use VS for Mac to deploy backend to Azure? If not; how would I go about deploying this backend onto Azure?
