summit2018's Issues

Thanks and survey

Reach out to participants with thanks and a summary (including initial survey results) and engagement ideas

Workshop 4: Survey of Tools

  • Workshop 4: Survey of tools and resources with developers (for experienced biocurators). Opportunity to provide feedback and feature requests directly to tool developers.

Summit advertising on external sites

Advertise the summit on events listings of websites of relevant organizations, linking to https://gladstone.org/connect/events/wikipathways-summit-2018. Adapt title/description/info based on whats required in each case.

Schedule presentation recording with Gladstone IT

Here's what they can do:

"No prep needed. How many presenters? If more than one, I would recommend to use just one computer and load all the presentations in it. This is the best way of avoiding technical issue and smoother transition between presenters through out the event.
The other thing is to ensure the presenters not to go away from the podium because the camera will be zoomed in to the podium in this mode. In order to have them stick around the podium, just have them use podium microphone.
We can test it a day or two before the event date, so you can have a better idea. Let me know."

Same day signup for workshops.

Have clipboards ready with limited number of remaining spot per workshop. Include page with description of outline.

Some workshops might have pre-workshop steps that are too difficult to catch up on.

what about more granular projects?

For example, have separate projects for:

  • logistics
  • Day 1
  • Day 2
  • Day 3

Or something like that? But I'm also pondering about a separate project for things I'm working on, like a metabolomics session...

Workshop 2: Scripting Pathway Analysis

  • Workshop 2: Scripting pathway analysis and data overlays (for programmers). Covers WikiPathways web services, rWikiPathways and RCy3. Most example will be in R.

Stickers, buttons, t-shirts?

Alex made some conference badge ribbons and distributed them at ISMB. Can use remaining ones for other conferences? Or for the event itself? Maybe to designate co-hosts?

Denise will create a preliminary logo, send this to everyone to give feedback; which we could then use for stickers/tshirt/sweaters and websites+slide whatever. Note that we might also want to update our old grey WP logo to celebrate 10 years and exit from beta, etc. I can ask Gladstone's professional graphic designers to help as well, if you want to provide them with ideas and concepts.
