Scott Davies's Projects

react-data-fetching-th icon react-data-fetching-th

Methods for fetching external data using React to build a Gif gallery with search function. (Treehouse -Data fetching in React).

react-scoreboard icon react-scoreboard

Work on breaking down the scoreboard app created in React Basics into reusable components as is standard practice when using React. Featuring both class and functional components.

rest-api-validation-with-express-th icon rest-api-validation-with-express-th

explore how to validate data in an Express REST API application. Work on adding validation to a simple Node.js and Express REST API that allows you to create a user account and retrieve a list of user accounts. (Final exercise still to be completed though seems relatively straight forward)

scrimming icon scrimming

Brushing up on Responsive web design and React with Scrimba by use of their interactive workspace.

sequelize-express-blog-app-th icon sequelize-express-blog-app-th

Use of the Sequelize ORM and Express to build a simple CRUD application that's connected to a SQL database. Use of Sequelize methods to perform CRUD operations within Express routes (using HTTP methods like get and post) to manage the data in the database.

shopping-list icon shopping-list

A mini proof of concept updatable shopping list app. Updates and maintains state and re renders page much like react.

space-tourism icon space-tourism

Build of multi-page space tourism website as per figma design.

tabs icon tabs

An example of using tabs on a page

tat-vision icon tat-vision

An intentionally retro site, mocked up for a local artist, the artist higlighted the space jam website as inspiration and a table was derived from the site for layout purposes, I further enhanced the site by utilising css grid and javascript to add a number of gallery items and a tv noise/static effect on gallery page changes.

tea-cozy icon tea-cozy

A basic webpage for a tea shop, built from a provided design specification.

techdegree-final-project icon techdegree-final-project

In this project I used React to create a client for my self built school database REST API. This full stack application provides a way for users to administer a school database containing information about courses: users can interact with the database by retrieving a list of courses, viewing detail for a specific course, as well as creating, updating and deleting courses in the database. The project also requires users to create an account and sign in to make changes to the database.

techdegree-project-1 icon techdegree-project-1

A Random quote generator built with vanilla JavaScript, this generator also selects a random colour on quote change and automatically switches quote within a given timeframe

techdegree-project-2 icon techdegree-project-2

This project used DOM scripting to apply pagination and filtering to a given list , in this case students. A search component was added Dynamically to create and append a search bar and the results paginated depending on how many search results were returned

techdegree-project-3 icon techdegree-project-3

This form uses JavaScript to enhance an interactive registration form for a fictional conference by using customised and conditional behaviour/interactivity. This includes the validation of user input to provide error messages when the user enters invalid information.

techdegree-project-4 icon techdegree-project-4

A Browser based word guessing game 'Dr Phraser'. This project uses JavaScript and Object oriented programming for the selection of a random hidden phrase, upon which a player has 5 lives to guess the phrase by either clicking letters on an on-screen keyboard or physically typing said letters.

techdegree-project-5 icon techdegree-project-5

An Application for a fictional company called Web Cooks with remote employees working all over the world. This project users the Random User Generator API (https://randomuser.me) to grab information for 12 random employees and uses that data to build a prototype for an employee directory.

techdegree-project-7 icon techdegree-project-7

A searchable photo gallery using Create React App and React Router 4 that implements React best practices such as JSX and managing state via a container component. Data is obtained using the Axios http client to fetch photos from the Flickr API

techdegree-project-8 icon techdegree-project-8

A web application for a fictional local library to help them manage their collection of books. Includes functionality to add, update and delete books and also allows for search and pagination of the collection. Error handling carried out via express middleware.

techdegree-project-9 icon techdegree-project-9

A REST API using Express. The API provides a way for users to administer a school database containing information about courses: users can interact with the database by retrieving a list of courses, as well as adding, updating and deleting courses in the database. Technologies include REST API design, Node.js, and Express to create API routes, along with the Sequelize ORM for data modeling, validation, and persistence. Postman was used to test the application.
