mysimbl's Issues

TypeStatus

Keep in mind this is the first time I have ever installed a tweak on Mac. I love it. Anyway, I HAVE installed mysimbl and easysimbl do i need both? I am trying to get TypeStatus working on Mac. If you can help I would appreciate it. I can't understand how to disable System integrity protection. Also it won't let me instal updates

Afloat working on Sierra, but causing app crashes.

Thanks so much for your work on mySIMBL! I was so happy to have Afloat back! There's just one issue-- it seems to be causing other apps to crash, even System Preferences. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks!

How to install SIMBL?

Hi, starting mySIMBL gets always this answer on top:

SIMBL Manager has determined that SIMBL ist not
installed or outdated on your system.
This means that applications and plugins which
require SIMBL to function will likely not work.
[Cancel] [Install]

After pushing [Install] the response is

SIMBL install failed!
Something went wrong, probably System Integrity
Protection.

So, how to install SIMBL on Mac OS 10.11.6?

Kind regards
Jobst

Cannot hook to i386 apps after upgrade to 10.12

I've created a plugin to hook into a 32bit only app working on SIMBL, since the app is written with i386 so I can only run the plugin in i386 mode, after upgrade to sierra and updated to the latest SIMBL, I found seems like it starts to failed to load i386 plugins and start to alert me like this, how can I work with it?

Error loading /System/Library/ScriptingAdditions/SIMBL.osax/Contents/MacOS/SIMBL: dlopen(/System/Library/ScriptingAdditions/SIMBL.osax/Contents/MacOS/SIMBL, 262): no suitable image found. Did find:

Some SIMBL preferences not saved

Howdy,

In mySIMBL 0.5.1, under the SIMBL tab, the two check boxes `Allow load in Xcode 8+' and Allow load in Safari Tech Preview' do not retain their manually unchecked value between runs of mySIMBL. Not a big deal.

Good Luck,
herbs

mySIMBL agent is not loading plugins into all applications

So the mySIMBLAgent is being started when I log in, but it is not injecting my plugins. I am on macOS 10.12.2 (16C67) with mySIMBL 0.5.3 (29). I:

  1. Tried rebooting by machine to ensure it was being loaded on log-on

  2. Tried re-opening mySIMBL a couple of times.

  3. Disabled SIP.

The plugins only work if the Load into all applications button is pressed after a reboot.

It is being loaded at log-on

Version info

Thank you for any help or insight you can provide, as well for maintaining everything you made!

What I have to do? Thx

Does not inject into latest Safari on Sierra.

Safari Version 10.1.1 (12603.2.4)
macOS Version 10.12.5 (16F73)

Just Installed a clean OS, downloaded mySIMBL, added Fullscreener.bundle, restarted. Every other app loads it but Safari doesn't. SIP is disabled of course.

  • delete this as it is a dupe -

First popup when starting SIMBL:

SIMBL is latest version as is OS X.
Trying to d&d afloat to the simbl (there's no plugins section visible) and it gives me error message:

System framework hooking

Hi:
I was playing with IAP on OSX 10.12.5 and tried to hook into StoreKit to bypass purchase check.
But I found it unable to hook into it.My project is in here:
Would you please help me with this issue?
Thanks very much!

Microsoft Word 2016 Glitch

Hi,

Have there been any known issues with bundles and Word 2016? Ever since I set up SIMBL and all the rest, I haven't been able to save a document -- either it won't let me click, or the save dialog opens and closes in immediate succession. I've tried removing all bundles, reinstalling them, turning off window-related features, but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Feat request: apps subfolder index

Seems mySIMBL won't list aplications (blacklist function) located within Aplications/user's subfolders. For 1 or 2 apps it can be fixed with a symlink but when there are many it's messy. Maybe mySIMBL could also lookup the folders in aplications' sublevels. Thank you =)

Keeping cask up-to-date?

I was about to install via brew cask install mysimbl and then realized it was 0.5.1 and I wanted to get the most recent master. Any way to make sure we always have the most recent version so that brew upgrade will always bring us to the edge?

New icon

Thanks for this awesome app! I was just wondering when the mySIMBL app is going to receive a new, more pleasant icon. It really deserves it!

SIMBL install not working?

Just downloaded mySIMBL and found that using the Install function right off the bat to get SIMBL installed is not actually installing SIMBL or giving any feedback. Any thoughts? Haven't looked into logs yet, but wanted to throw this out there for some thoughts before digging.

MySIMBL install on Sierra - Mail Glitch

I installed MySIMBL and while it works, now my Apple Mail is failing to open file/save file. I went through this once before, and the issue was the MySIMBL - I reinstalled it today hoping the bug was fixed, but no luck - back to same issues.

While in system preferences I am unable to open any of the advanced screens. The popup window opens then immediately closes again. This happens while in any of the system preferences screens. Is there any fix for it? I have also tried to blacklist system preferences completely and it didn't not work. I used mySIMBL as well as using terminal.

Uninstall SIMBL

I cannot uninstall SIMBL on Sierra 12.4. I have clicked the uninstall - logged out and back in - and the agent is still installed and running as well as the osax. Is there another way?

Resizable Frames on Taskbar Icons?

Ever since I installed mySIMBL and disabled SIP on Mac OS X Sierra (latest version), I've been having taskbar issues with certain applications. (Optimal Layout for example).

Well today, I accidentally grabbed the edge of one of the taskbar icons instead of the window to resize it, and miraculously I was able to resize the boundaries of the taskbar icon application.

See the attached gif below:

macos-taskbar-icons-resize-frames

Possible bug? I have SpotlightSIMBL and fullscreenER installed and running only.

Plugin update fails

I tried "Update All" as well and nothing happened. I was then greeted with this error
imgurlwindow 09-06-17 19_06_50

Plugins prevent Terminal from opening first window macOS 10.12

Steps to reproduce:

System: macOS Sierra 10.12.4
mySIMBL: 0.5.3 (29)
Afloat: 2.5.2 / Jan 18, 2017

  1. Install and run mySIMBL
  2. Select Afloat plugin from Discover tab and install
  3. Try opening Terminal (click Dock icon)
Terminal app starts but no terminal window appears
  4. Try opening Terminal again
    A terminal window appears

Note, that if you've defined a default window group it does not open on step 3 or 4. Only a single window appears on step 4.

mySIMBL.app doesn't work with colorfulsidebar in Sierra

I'm trying the latest version of mySIMBL: 0.5.1 on Jan 26, 2017. The only SIMBL plugin I'm interested in using is colorfulsidebar and it doesn't work. In the past, in OS X 10.9.5, it required relaunching the Finder to get colorfulsidebar to work. Now, in macOS X 10.12.2, relaunching the Finder has no effect on the sidebar icons.

mySIMBL doesn't automatically load into all applications

I use Flashlight, which uses mySIMBL. Flashlight only works if I click "Load into all applications" in mySIMBL every startup.

Is there any way to automatically load into all applications at login? It can get quite tedious having to open mySIMBL and do this every startup.

Flashlight is a helpful app that I find extremely useful. Thank you for your continued work into these applications.

v0.5.1 & v0.5.2 updates are totally messed up

The update to v0.5.1 went well, but after launching the new version, the app froze, while asking to update SIMBL. I had to force-quit the app, then launch it again, and all of a sudden it was asking to update to v0.5.2. (Which v0.5.2?! It's not here on GitHub.) The whole thing then hung during installation (v0.5.2 update). I tried to force-quit all SIMBL and mySIMBL-related processes, which didn't work, and the mySIMBL icon in the Dock was still showing the app as running, even though it wasn't in top or ps aux. Couldn't even log out of my user account, because OS X wasn't able to quit the app either. So I had to do hard reboot. I then downloaded the v0.5.1 from GitHub, installed it manually, then the app froze again (see above), then again a force-quit and relaunch, and now I was able to update SIMBL. I'm ignoring the in-app update to v0.5.2 for now, and will install it manually, as soon as it's available for download, because the whole update system doesn't seem to work properly with mySIMBL.

Use mySIMBL-Plugins while SIP is enabled

Hello,

Is there any way to use the mysimbl plugins while the SIP is enabled again (after installing MYSIMBL and all of the plugins successfully after disabling the SIP)?. To be precise I want to use the Plugin Safaristand in this way later. (Safari 10, OS X El Cap, latest Version).

Thank you!

fullscreenER 1.1.1 buggy

I'm using fullscreenER 1.1.1 in OS X 10.10.5 (Yosemite), and it's making my open/save dialog boxes almost nonfunctional. They will not respond to any clicking by the mouse, although they will respond to keys typed on the keyboard, including (fortunately), the Esc key. It may be a dynamic with DefaultFolder X v5.1.1, which I am also using, but I did not have time to zero in on the possible interaction.

mySIMBL update procedure

Is it normal that every time the mySIMBL application updates itself and relaunches, I get an error that reports that SIMBL is not installed? Then I have to click to (re) install SIMBL, and reboot, in order for mySIMBL to launch properly, without that error.

Seems a bit odd to me, since I'd properly installed SIMBL previously (disabling SIP and re-enabling SIP afterward.) And it's the mySIMBL app, not SIMBL that's updating, anyway.

Everything works fine, I'm just wondering...

Library-Validation issues

mySIMBL does not inject into applications with Library-Validation which currently includes:

Safari 10.1 +
Xcode 8.0 +

Not sure if/when a fix will come. You can unsign these applications to allow injection but Safari is protected by System Integrity Protection which mean SIP must be off in order to unsign Safari. There are also a host of issues that have been reported related to unsigning Safari 10.1.

Problem installing mySIMBL in Sierra

Hi there, I'm on a Macbook Pro running Sierra (10.12.4) Sorry for a newbie question, but I'm having a lot of trouble getting mySIMBL to work β€” to create colored icons for sidebar items. I had SIMBL in my previous OS and it worked fine.

Here's what's confusing me: I downloaded the latest release, opened mySIMBL and moved it to Applications. I have installed SIMBL after disabling integrity protection. I was not sure which items to put into which exact SIMBL Plugins folder, so I took the entire contents (folders and items) from "mySIMBL-master" and put it into the Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins folder. I still cannot change the sidebar icons, even after a restart. I've spend over 90 minutes on this and am really out of ideas. Any suggestions most appreciated.

β€” Dave

Where's the download?

The README says to download the latest release, but doesn't provide a link. Is there a download that you know hasn't been bundled with adware? I'd rather not install from a random site found on google. Thanks!

cDock suddenly stopped theming

This morning, cDock suddenly stopped theming. OS had been flaky for some time; did a full in-place reinstall 10.12.3. Deleted every pref with word "dock" in it, in /prefs, ~users prefs and ~user/prefs/by host folders. Deleted every pref with "cdock" in it as found by HoudahSpot. Disabled SIP. Ran SIMBL uninstaller and reinstalled SIMBL. Deleted /Lib/AppSupport/Cdock folder. Deleted cdock startup agent. Rebooted. Re-ran cDock. All with SIP disabled. cdock helper is running, cdock is running, and simbl processes are running in Activy Monitor. The "dock" pane in cDock works, but theming doesn't do anything. Ideas? I'm running out of ideas here. I just simply love cDock, especially the transparent theme. brianaweeks1; [email protected]

Problem with TypeStatus v1.0 on mySIMBL 0.4.3

I just installed mySIMBL 0.4.3 as well as TypeStatus 1.0. I'm on macOS 10.12.1. The plugin only worked at first when I manually load it using "Load into all running applications," but then it stopped working all together. I've tried restarting both applications as well as pressing the "load" button before, during, and after loading the targeted app.

Thanks!

mySIMBL 0.4.2 works only when manually loading plugins

I just upgraded to v0.4.2 of mySIMBL (I had been using 0.3.1). My plugins work ONLY when I open mySIMBL and click on "Load into all running applications." Otherwise, nothing happens on Restart. You might note that SIMBLAgent is a valid login item (which I figured would load the plugins upon startup). The SIMBLAgent version number is 1.5.4. I am running Mac OS X 10.10.5 (Yosemite). and have the following plugins in mySIMBL:

cDock
colorfulSidebar9
NotificationClear
safariSoda
TheLostFinderNewWindow

Until I discovered v0.4.2 yesterday, I had been running v0.3.1 with only ColorfulSidebar 1.1.2 (from another developer, not the "9" version) and TheLostFinderNewWindow for quite a few months.

Do you have any thoughts or ideas?

Working on 10.13 Beta?

I'm looking to use this app but I see it requires disabling SIP to work. Since I'm on the 10.13 public beta I'm wondering if anyone has done this yet? A bit gun-shy since Bartender requires a similar process and is currently broken on the betas.

Thanks!
