I believe there may not be any place for you to refer, as some metrics lack comments in the code.
If you only want to figure out how they work on a few key metrics, you can search them directly in the source code to see where the Inc() and Dec() functions are being executed.
BTW I suggest the official Grafana dashboard where most graphs have explanations.
