vmware's Issues

subdomains for /etc/hosts

When the VCSA is deployed it does not add the FQDN to the /etc/hosts file if the FQDN contains subdomains.

Note: This is important because if you use vCenter HA, it will not complete the deployment until the /etc/hosts file is updated.

vSphere 6.5 Deployment issue

Script will work for vSphere 6.5 with the exception of VUM and Autodeploy when the certificates are updated.

There is a workaround while I troubleshoot with vmware support.
Workaround:
Log in the the vCenter after autodeploy is installed but before the certificates are replaced.
That fixes the issue for now.

Bug in plugin deployment

Found issue with executing the commands for plugins. Wrong VI handle is passed to the execute script function.

Autodeploy after cert replacement issue.

After replacing the certs and the thumbprint, VUM seems to work, but Autodeploy still does not function correctly. Still working with vmware to resolve this issue.

OpenSSL download and Install

Openssl download and install wasn't working.
This has been fixed.
Still need to adjust it so that I will deploy openssl in the folder specified in the excel sheet.
Currently it installs to the default folder.

Updated for vSphere 6.5

Updated the script to work with vSphere 6.5.

  • This requires PowerCli 6.5 to work, otherwise it errors out on connect-viserver to the vCenter.
  • There is an error on trying to connect to the vCenter with the flash based interface:
    A server error occurred.
[400] An error occurred while sending an authentication request to the vCenter Single Sign-On server - An error occurred when processing the metadata during vCenter Single Sign-On setup - javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target.
Check the vSphere Web Client server logs for details.
  • Several other errors need to be sorted out for vSphere 6.5 to work properly.
  • The good news is that this does not affect deploying vSphere 6.0.
