git_test's Introduction

git_test

My first Github repo! Hello Odin!

IMPORTANT COMMANDS FOR GIT:

git clone (Link from git) //This will clone the directory from a certain github link directly to your local directory from the remote one

git commit -m "Insert text in quotes to help keep track of notes" //commits whatever is in the staging area, and -m modifier lets you type in notes to keep track of changes //the -m is a message flag modifier to avoid having to accidentally open Vim

git status //Checks to see what is in staging area

git add ______ //adds the specified file to the staging area to later be committed.

git log //Let's you see the changes made to the current working directory

git remote -v //displays the URL of the repository

git push ______ //By default, SHOULD push your commits to the local branch

git push -u origin //SHOULD push it to the remote branch
