A place to store notes for recommended edits to the ETS (ecol traitdata standard) ontology.

At first, I intend to develop off of whatever their most recent version of the data is and store it inside the bundle. However, I think their goal is potentially to provide a more dynamic dataset, particularly one where folks can contribute new information, fill in gaps, suggest edits, etc.

Potential outlets for dynamic data with persistent identifiers include:...SB

Identify current resolution workflow, consider incorporating ritis package to automate resolutions.

Need the database contributors to help document the methods for identify and assigning information to each of the variables.

Here is a running list of things I need answered:

• unique colnames
• standardize the categories (e.g., see column Countries, does CA == Central Am?)
• metadata for each column, especially the "grouped" columns (e.g., multiple columns nested under "Foraging Location")
• methods and references for naming convention standards, versioning...
• what is taxon_2
• references for "authority"
• when was IUCN status updated?
• generally, references and/or methods for how each categorical variable was assigned a value
• what is the role of the multiple other sheets int he original xlsx file?

Need to provide a simple way for them to document this, too...

There is a bit of missing information across the database. Would be great continuously push out the data gaps and informational needs to the README and/or .io landing page to solicit contributions from the community.

Consider pointing to relevant resources, like this list of trait databases in the readme, or somewhere.

Work with Kevin and Rachel (and the broader parrot research groups) to identify needs/common uses to map out and prioritize functions.
