As it is known that some temp directories are prone to cause problems with tox test execution it would be great, especially as the list of folders is likely to be stable.

I am aware of manual shell/bash hacks being used for more than a decade but these are hard to maintain, usually not portable (gnu/bsd differences, windows for some). Having a python implementation would make its use much easier.

Instead of just displaying the failure message when git reports dirty, also run git --no-pager diff --color in order to show exactly what was changed.
