DFO data

Working to improve DFO's data availability and accessibility!

Datasets currently apply to commercial BC fisheries, except as noted

    • Contracts lists DFO's financial contracts over $10,000 (nationwide)
      Harvests contains landed weight and value data for various fisheries and/or combinations of fisheries
      Licences contains current and historical records of commercial licence ownership
      Digitize Me contains files that need to be digitized - it's your chance to help out!

    • All data are (or have been) publicly available somewhere on DFO's website. As a result, please feel free to use the data with attribution to Fisheries and Oceans Canada (and perhaps a shout-out to Ecotrust Canada if you're feeling generous).

    File-specific metadata is provided in each subfolder.
