libudev-stub's Issues

Unable to remove libudev-stub from WSL

I am currently unable to remove libudev-stub after installing it
I did:
sudo apt install ./libudev-stub-0.9.0-WSL.deb
However, after removing it using:
sudo dpkg -r libudev-stub

Now all my attempts at using apt : apt intsall, apt-get update are returning the error message:
error while loading shared libraries: libudev.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
What can I do to remove the library and restore WSL to its original state?

Getting UDEV STUB: Using libudev-stub 0.9.0

After I followed these steps: microsoft/WSL#648 (comment)

I am getting this error UDEV STUB: Using libudev-stub 0.9.0 whenever I execute any command.

For example, if I execute a invalid command like:

~$ vdrfvrf
UDEV STUB: Using libudev-stub 0.9.0
vdrfvrf: command not found

I am getting this UDEV STUB: Using libudev-stub 0.9.0 with almost every command even with apt.

Trouble starting chrome in WSL

Hey there!
I saw your post in this thread and I got excited, because now I can run js tests from WSL. However, after following the instructions in the README I'm stuck.

  1. I installed libudev-stub:
(Reading database ... 33434 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to unpack ./libudev-stub-0.9.0-WSL.deb ...
Unpacking libudev-stub (0.9.0) over (0.9.0) ...
Setting up libudev-stub (0.9.0) ...
symlink libudev.so.1 -> libudev-stub.so.1
  1. Installed the latest dev build:
sudo dpkg -i ./google-chrome-unstable_current_amd64.deb
  1. Installed any missing dependencies with:
sudo apt -f install
  1. And finally, tried to run chrome, but this unfortunately results in the following:
~ google-chrome --version
Google Chrome 60.0.3080.5 dev
~ google-chrome-unstable --no-sandbox
[1] 7275 trace trap (core dumped) google-chrome-unstable --no-sandbox
~ google-chrome --no-sandbox
[1] 7286 trace trap (core dumped) google-chrome --no-sandbox

Please do not take this library down

From the language of the project's README, it can be inferred that you are going to take the project down. Please do not do so. This stub library has proven very useful to me, since I use it to get software that requires udev to run under termux (https://termux.com/), a linux environment and terminal emulator for android. So, you could either keep working on this library with this goal in mind, or leave it as is, if you want to. Just don't take it down! ๐Ÿ™‚
