rb4instrumentmapper's Issues

README Typo? (Guitar Hero Live Xbox One Adapter)

***DO NOT INSTALL THE DRIVER ON YOUR XBOX ONE RECEIVER!!!*** RB4InstrumentMapper is not capable of handling it in this state, and it will become nonfunctional until you uninstall the device in Device Manager!

Was following this to get the Guitar Hero Live guitar with Xbox One adapter working. It's worked in the end, but I wanted to document why it failed at first and took ~3 hours to fix.

  1. Downloaded and installed WinPCap (not required, but I hadn't read that "xbox one adapter is a wired device" yet).
  2. Downloaded and installed vigembus
  3. Connected the adapter and tried to get it working with WinPCap as a wireless controller untill I saw that it was wired.
  4. Tried to install the WinUSB driver but RB4InstrumentMapper's tool would find the adapter, but fail to move it to the other side after clicking Switch Driver. Tried this again a few times.
  5. Moved on to the "Alternative Method", installed Zadig.
  6. I chose "Guitar Hero" from the list of devices and tried to install "WinUSB" but it timed out.
  7. After timing out I read the "DO NOT INSTALL THE DRIVER ON YOUR XBOX ONE RECEIVER!!!" which confused me because installing "WinUSB" on "Guitar Hero" seemed to be the only option.
  8. I opened device manager and saw that "WinUSB" had been installed despite the timeout, so I uninstalled it in the way that 7) described. Guitar Hero disappeared from device manager.
  9. Tested and wasn't working. No more steps in the README to follow so I tried a bunch of other programmes to get the Xbox One adapter working with no luck.
  10. Eventually came back to this README and tried Zadig again. Got the device showing up in Device Manager again and I got Zadig to install the "WinUSB" driver (after timing out again).
  11. Tested and working perfectly!

Basically I followed the instructions in the README but when I got to the end of the "Alternative Method", the warning was contradictory to the steps above. Could you clarify what steps Xbox One adapter users are supposed to follow?

No Pcap devices found!

I am trying to connect a RB4 Xbox One controller to my Windows 11 PC via the Xbox Wireless Adapter (newest generation). Following the instructions in the ReadMe, after checking "Enable" under the Pcap group, my Xbox One receiver does not appear in the dropdown menu. Auto-Detect Pcap takes me through a few steps but does not detect the receiver still. I am sure the device is functional becuase I am able to connect an Xbox One controller to it, and I can see it in the device list in settings. Am I doing something wrong? What is the fix here?

RB4 drums via legacy adapter not working

First of all, thank you for the great work!
I have installed the version 4.0.2.0 but the RB4 beatles drum via legacy adapter, still doesn't work.
It seems that the mapping between the drums pad/cymbal and the ViGEmBus virtual controller is not correct.
When i press the start and back button they are correctly mapped to the button 7 and 8 of the virtual controller. The d-pad is correctly mappet to the virtual controller POV too. The pedal, cymbal, pad and a, x, y, b, button are not recognized or wrongly mapped-
ES: the yellow cymbal is mapped to the Z axis, the yellow and green pad are not recognized.

Note that with the RB4 Beatles guitar all is working properly

If you need other data/test i will be happy to help
Thank You

Mouse drift from tilt and whammy bar

When the controller is connected and the program is running, the mouse cursor drifts. Tilting the guitar will control the Y-axis drift. The whammy bar seems to affect the X-axis but it's not really controllable. I've tried both ViGEmBus and vJoy and it does the same thing on both. Sometimes turning off the controller will fix it but often the drift continues and I have to kill RB44InstrumentMapper via the command prompt.

Edit: I retract this. The issue appears to have possibly been Steam.

Not recognizing adapter

I'm using the Cipon adapter which the RB4 guitar will connect to, but the RB4InstrumentMapper doesn't detect no matter what I seem to do
