Set up Self-Servicing Account Program (GSX integrations)

Set up Self-Servicing Account Program

Apple's Self-Servicing Account (SSA) program is designed for institutions and businesses that would like the convenience of repairing their own products. Program participants (Self-Servicers or Self Servicing Accounts) are authorized to repair only the products they own or lease.

Benefits
Service Accounts are able to take advantage of the following benefits:

  • Ability to perform repairs on select Apple products
  • Maintain control of the installed base of products, quality and time of the entire repair process
  • Access to Apple's service parts, exclusive diagnostic tools, and systems
  • Next day shipment of replacement product, subject to parts availability and account status
  • Access to Apple's online technical and account management support functions
  • Access to support resources including: training modules, technical guides, support articles, invoicing/statements, performance metrics, and real-time chat and email support from Apple
  • Two complimentary vouchers for initial certification

Integrate GSX with Jamf Pro

Integrating with Apple’s Global Service Exchange (GSX) allows you to look up and populate the following purchasing information for computers and mobile devices:

  • Purchase date
  • Warranty expiration date
  • Apple Care ID (warranty reference number)

Note: GSX may not always return complete purchasing information. Only the information found in GSX is returned.

To integrate with GSX, you need to configure the GSX Connection settings in Jamf Pro, which involves entering GSX account information and uploading an Apple certificate.

You can also use Jamf Pro to test the connection and upload a renewed Apple certificate when needed.

Create hardware lifecycle process

  • What is our budget? Where are the costs allocated to?
  • Who approves this purchase?

Deployment

  • Image and Configure
  • Release asset into production

Maintenance and Service

  • Set up warranty and EOL alerts
  • Track service history (Freshservice, GSX, etc.)

Decommission and Disposal of Asset
