Download

Use HTTPie via the Terminal to download the appropraite base files:

# for all projects
http -d https://raw.githubusercontent.com/textileio/base/master/.editorconfig
http -d https://raw.githubusercontent.com/textileio/base/master/.gitignore

# for web projects (projects that are mostly html/javascript/typescript)
http -d https://raw.githubusercontent.com/textileio/base/master/.eslintignore
http -d https://raw.githubusercontent.com/textileio/base/master/.prettierignore

Setup

If convenient, make sure all PRs are merged beforehand to avoid merge conflicts.

On Go/Java Projects

On go projects we want to run prettier on everything, but ignore the errors.

npx prettier --write "./**" 2> /dev/null || true

On Web Projects

Uninstall the old dependencies:

rm tslint.json
npm uninstall tslint tslint-react

Install the dependencies:

# javascript/typescript/react projects
npm i -D prettier eslint eslint-config-bevry eslint-config-prettier eslint-plugin-prettier

# typescript projects
npm i -D @typescript-eslint/eslint-plugin @typescript-eslint/parser

# react projects
npm i -D eslint-plugin-react eslint-plugin-react-hooks @types/react

Add the eslint/prettier script to say package.json:scripts as build or lint or whatever.

eslint --fix --ext .mjs,.js,.jsx,.ts,.tsx .

Add the following to package.json which enables our rules:

{
  "eslintConfig": {
    "extends": [
      "bevry"
    ],
    "parserOptions": {
      "ecmaVersion": 6,
      "sourceType": "module",
      "ecmaFeatures": {
        "jsx": true
      }
    }
  },
  "prettier": {
    "semi": false,
    "singleQuote": true
  }
}

For typescript projects, you may wish to add the following to make the rules more compatible with typescript conventions:

{
  "eslintConfig": {
    "rules": {
      "no-undefined": 0,
      "default-case": 0
    }
  }
}
