Map to show which counties are "hot spots" for case growth in the past week about covid_tracker HOT 6 OPEN

Thanks Matt - It was a big moment for me! (However, I couldn’t figure out how to add the Dell Med recommendation label - newbie.) One other thought - if we could asterisk counties with large clusters (NYTimes shows 50+), this would further explain case growth in some counties. I don’t know if DSHS could provide this to you in their data feed. Otherwise, might be manual to add? This obviously is a compelling case, but in theory the number of things that get highlighted by county can be infinite. That, however, isn’t practical. So we’d want to be selective about the ones that get featured and maybe even establish some criteria that helps guide why something gets included in the toggle versus other data points. Why I feel like case growth is compelling is because: * It’s a kind of signal that helps lead to more focused questions a) why are things suddenly getting worse in County X or b) what is County Y doing to have such a drastic slowing of growth. * It’s available and robust enough to visualize at the county level, which can’t always be said for other points. I hope DSHS will share. I listened to a presentation last night from Mark Escott and a couple Dell Med reps re testing and tracing in Austin, and they showed three LTC facilities in Austin with 50+ cases being investigated (two of them each had 98 cases). I don’t think any of these facilities appear on the NYTimes cluster list, though there is one Round Rock LTC facility shown in NY Times. FYI – Dell Med is working on an initiative with Austin Public Health to improve NF and other LTC facility protocols/design to reduce infection in them. This may take a while, but it’s badly needed.
