Just wanted to let you know that you did an excellent job. I'm trying to learn pandas and matplotlib all at once and your work is an excellent example for me to learn from. (I wanted to do some mapping, but didn't have time to foray into that.)
Your code shows how to cleanly and concisely use pandas and then take the data into matplotlib and Basemap . I tried to learn enough to do the assignment and was frustrated by simple things like not being able to figure out how to sort the data so my stacked bar graphs were ordered. (I wasn't able to find a coherent example of how to do indexing and sorting. Found plenty of how to use it, but not any on why with coherent examples -- or at least, didn't find any in time to do the assignment.) I can learn a lot from your code.
