z-camera-e1-reverse-engineering's Issues

Feature request: PCM audio

First of all: thanks a lot for sharing your great work, this is awesome!

Would it be possible to create a patch which will record PCM audio instead of AAC?
Background: I'm using the E1 to record live concerts (since I had MFT lenses anyway and the camera has no time limit in the US version or when using your patch). Considering the price I'm quite happy with the sound quality, but sometimes I can hear some compression artifacts. My hope is that they will be gone with PCM instead of AAC audio.

Feature request: initial settings config

Hi,
First of all I have to thank you for such an awesome improvement on the camera. All your time spent has given a new live to this small and practical camera.
I use it mostly for timelapse photography and there is a little annoyance that now that you have accesss to the "insides" might be fixable in the same way.
Each time it starts the camera resets to its initial values no matter what. It would be awesome if one could add a set of keys on the autoexec so, for example, it would startup on photo mode, or aperture priority.
Also, for some reason the long exposure is limited to 8s, is there anyway to up that value.
Again, thanks a lot

Question: asking ImagineVision for Linux firmware source

I am delighted by your progress on reverse engineering the Z CAM E1! We actually use this on a small UAV to take pictures, but we have found the firmware to be extremely janky and haven't found any time to do any reverse engineering work ourselves.

But you have discovered that the UI side uses Linux and Qt - which immediately implies that since Linux is GPLv2, aren't we legally entitled to receive their branch of the Linux source tree? I don't remember how far the legal requirement goes, but I know that Netgear had to go so far as to releasing their entire firmware kit to allow developers to build their own firmware for all of Netgear's Linux-based routers. Who knows what other open-source software they may be using as well that was included without a license.

It will not give us all the answers, but it may aid in further reverse engineering work.

turn on wifi / clear settings

Hi, is there any change to use the autoexec.sh to turn on wifi or clear settings on startup?
My back screen is not working and neither are the buttons, so I need access thru wifi to setup everything but unfortunately is down.
Thanks

Wifi or ISO and Shutter change

I’ve just bought 2 zcam e1. (theoretically I bought one and got the second one as a “spare”). As it turns out, the second camera is working and recording video, but the buttons and the screen are dead. Now my question: is it possible to achieve through a script, that the zcam e1 turns on WiFi and sets a specific WiFi password for phone remote control. Theoretically it would be enough to be able to set a shutter and iso, because the camera is stuck at 1600 iso and that isn’t great for daylight operation. But full control using the phone would be better. Thank you for your time
