Plugging off headset before app has ended

Version

1.0 - 2.0

Description

the headphone plugged bug... It is at least a LiteROM bug but maybe also in every ICS version I'm not sure... the problem occurs when you plug off before the application which uses the plugged in device has ended. If for example you hear music with a music app and do not end the app but plugging off the headset before this problem occurs. If you terminate the app which has accessed the headset then wait some more seconds to be totally sure that it has ended (you could also check by a task manager) and THEN plug off the headset then this prob will not occur. If it happens a reboot solves the problem. IMO this bug should be fixable but haven't looked into it yet.

possible high battery drain using v2.0

Version

v2.0

Description

The bug is in the file /etc/init.d/99sediROM_last
I simply forgot to include my new library file which is new in v2. This results in crond will not be started which is needed to handle some important things like fixing the battery drain for the google play service.

Hardware Keyboard on i927 Does Not Work on Contact Edit

Hallo,

Physical keyboard on i927 does allow to edit the fields in contact in contact detail form (e.g. middle name field). The arrows up and down are working ok and they are moving cursor to previous field in contact detail edit form. The physical keyboard is working fine in browser or other applications. In contact detail edit form only a software keyboard works to edit correctly.
I have second i927, where I have tried to flash sediROM v1.7.6 together with factory reset and the problem seems to be the same on this second phone (originally Rogers, but using same ROM).

So currently instead of in build AT&T contact manager I am for entering and editing contacts using the contact manager from True Phone, which is working correctly with i927 hardware keyboard. It does the job for me even not being perfect.

I am using sediROMv1.7.6., kernel 3.1.10-I927UCLJ3-CL970642, SHG-I927. I am using Atom Launcher.

Version

Description

After doing Easy Installation clean install, there's an option to "Modify Installation." Under the "Select Tweaks" menu, there's an option "Swap Internal and External Sdcard Mounts: Use your large External Sdcard as your primary sdcard." Once booted, I expect to go to the Settings/Applications menu and see the sizes of my "Device memory" and my "On SD card" to be swapped, yet I do not.

By maddbomber83: Fine Control over GAPPS Install (Allow ALL google apps, or just individual ones, to be selected in the installer)

My daily use for this phone is actually as a gaming / music device for my daughter. With that in mind getting the storage just right is a key. I will use the proper form for submitting a feature request; but when you are looking to upgrade the Aroma Installer would you also consider adding finer control of the GAPPS install as well? http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...52&postcount=8 The PA Gapps package allows you to include a text file that you list all the packages that you do not want installed. It would be nice if in Aroma we could enable/disable each Google App for our install. Using the above package I tend to get the bare minimum required and leave the rest up to the play store. Anyway, food for thought.

by giannhs_n: add missing default wifi AP config (at&t)

Version

v2.1

Description

i send you to solve one problem, before some months i was testing wifi drain on stock rom and i told you that if i remove the following file /system/etc/wifi/ default_ap.conf wifi seems better.. it should disable at & t auto connect but it causes alot cpu drain on the following service " nvcpud".. check it out.. i renamed(disable) the following file /system/bin/nvcpud to nvcpud.off and everything was fine after rebooting without any defects... maybe that's why some users report performance loss due to that process, i hope that helps

Update 1 :
i had disable for 2 days that service, unfortunately when you have incoming or outgoing sms phone reboots.. so we need this service on

Update 2:
please add those lines back again on default_ap.conf (fixes nvcpud problem)

network={
ssid="attwifi"
key_mgmt=NONE
vendor_spec_ssid=1
}

Comment

According to the following post it may has to do with a missing or invalid kernel driver module:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42624203
--> nvcpud is your nvidia tegra 2 cpu daemon which takes care of your graphics. Its because of your improper driver module (kernel).

The same above post later discussing about completely disabling the nvcpud but I really do not know if that would have any site effects.

CM has patches for the nvcpud service which disables the daemon once it was initiated

heavy build.prop redesign for improving stability and hopefully battery and performance optimization

boot HANG (no loop)

Description

In rare circumstances a boot loop can occur. This happened to me twice and as I use full disk encryption I first thought it is related to encrypted devices only. But it affects both types!

Problem

Booting fine, PIN entering of the SIM went fine, entering the decryption password went fine -> green robot is displayed. Normally it needs some time about 1-2 minutes or so from now on to see the login screen. Even after 15 minutes the same picture nothing happening anymore.

First booted into recovery and as I use sediTWRP I'm able to decrypt without any problems.
Then I backed up everything by TWRP and my internal storage manually as that is nothing TWRP can do. (adb shell, cd /external_sd/ ; mount /sdcard; tar czf sdcard.tgz /sdcard ).

Well as said I thought it might be because of the encryption so I completely wiped out /data and /sdcard to have an unencrypted device. I also deleted /efs/metadata which holds the crypt parameters and now I had a complete unencrypted device holding all my backuped data.

Booting unencrypted leaves the boot logo displayed and ... hanging. The same as for the encrypted part! So it has nothing directly to do with encrypting the device.

As that has happened to me the second time in the last 6 months I decided to investigate further what the root cause here is. ... and I found it!

Reason

I will not write all the debug code here and tests I made but finally I have detected the root cause of such hang.
Ok only a short (and most important) one:
while true; do lsof >> /cache/lsof.debug; sleep 0.2; done

Android tries to access several XML files when in booting state. And the boot process will wait until those are processed. This will just be a second or less of time to wait normally so you will not recognize that.
But there is a real BUG with that behaviour: When the XML is there but somehow zeroed out (means it exists but it is in fact empty inside) Android will hang!
In my case the files preventing the boot were:

  • /data/system/sync/accounts.xml
  • /data/system/registered_services/android.accounts.AccountAuthenticator.xml
  • /data/system/registered_services/android.content.SyncAdapter.xml

All those files are 0 size so empty and they are tried to being accessed by a system app within the boot process.

Solution

Well those XMLs are filled by Android once booted up so it is absolutely safe to delete them.
Doing this manually and doing that for the above only is may not sufficient so the solution would be to find out which xmls are blocking the boot process and then checking if they are 0 size. If they have 0 bytes delete them.

log collection for troubleshooting

Version

v2.1

Description

It would be nice to have a collector in case of trouble:

  • execute /system/xbin/sediROM_testsuite.sh
  • get all logs from /preload/.sediROM
  • execute a "dmesg"
  • execute a "df -kh"
  • execute a "mount"
  • execute "ps"
  • ....

All those zipped to /sdcard in order to upload it to XDA or similar.
