Missing overview icons

Several ships need a small zoomed out icon (starbase constructors, repair bays) - you could only see the ship if you zoomed in close enough to see it, otherwise you wouldn’t know it’s there. If we don't have a usable sg icon for the time, we should put a stock one in there so it doesn't look like a bug.

Clean & UV map any remaining Asuran models

Remove/replace damaged geometry, fix all geometry issues and make use of symmetry where possible. Create 2 UV sets, one for the texture which is mirrored and one for the Tangents with unique UV islands. Prepare a Substance Painter starter scene for texturing.

Theme Icons

Need to implement custom theme icons that the player can select

Traveller Geometry Details & Texturing

Traveller details to be completed and converted to Height and ColorID stamps so that the Traveller fleet can be textured. Affected ships:

Capital Carrier
Capital Destroyer
Capital/Cruiser Colony
Cruiser Heavy

For Texturing: 1 new Substance Painter smart material.

Possible Traveller uses: Pirates, Outlaws, Event

Duplicate Textures

These textures identify as duplicates, most likely having both a DDS and a TGA file. Review the files for the best use and archive the other. By default, Sins will use the DDS, so for the most part, we can archive all the TGA files from the normal distribution. We can keep them offline for editing as we'll want to use the highest quality image when updating the DDS with a new version.

Create Hero Research

Add the Heros to the Defense branch as part of a research tree. Make the Heros auto-spawn at the homeworld when the research is completed. Update the Hero descriptions with information about the ships.

Many of the Tau’ri ships have Asgard Pulse Weapons. They should be called Asgard Plasma Weapons.

Shadow Issues

The Asuran_CapitalHero_Aurora has shadow issues when I imported in-game.

Increase the overview popup size

Many of our weapon or ability names would benefit from a size increase to better fit a longer string. So we can say "Asgard Pulse Weapons" instead of just "Pulse Weapons" without the name (and level) going over the edge of the gui backdrop as described in #9

It is likely possible to make the popup information window that displays such ship details wider if we do want to increase the length of these names.

Asuran Antaeus Geometry Details

The Antaeus geometry details need to be prepared so that they can be converted to Height and ColorID stamps and used for texturing. Asuran ship textures that are affected:

Replace Asgard Beam Ability with Asgard Beam Weapons

Ace will provide the XSI scenes. Once these are ready, the XSI mesh points plugin can be used to add the weapons to the models. The number of weapons on each existing mesh should be checked, either with Sins dev mode, 3d Object Converter or directly inside the .mesh file code and the new weapons set as the next one up - if the mesh has weapon 0 and weapon 1, this means the new beam weapons must be weapon 2 and so on. Once it's exported (info for this process is available in the Ironclad PDF file that comes with Forge Tools 3), the code for the new mesh points will need to be copied over to the existing .mesh files and the mesh point count increased accordingly. The entities the meshes are connected to must also be updated to include the beam weapon (can be copied over from the BC304 entity file) and the entity number of weapon count should be increased to match this change. Sins treats weapon counts in a top down fashion, meaning that the top weapon logged in the entity file is weapon 0, next weapon down is weapon 1 and so on. The location of the beam weapon in the entity file should match the name of the mesh point in the .mesh file (if the beam is the 3rd logged weapon then the associated mesh points must be weapon 2 as the first weapon is always weapon 0). After the first ship has been changed in this way (entity and mesh files), a test needs to be run in game with the model in question to see if this change causes errors due to the weapon being locked by research.

Ouranos Constructor effect direction

The building "effect" for the Ouranos Constructor is pointing in the wrong direction. Instead of the effect emanating in front of the ship to the construction target, the effect emanates from the side of the ship into nothing.

The asuran colony capital also seem to have a few instances where it's drones were off from the target.

Textures referenced that don't exist

There are Textures referenced by various game files that do not exist in the Texture or TextureAnimation folder, which could be the cause of game crashes or other instability. These need to be reviewed. Textures may need to be added, the reference removed, or the perhaps the referenced file deleted if it's part of the unused stock game.

Below is a current list, which can be viewed by running the SinsModCheck script against SGI.

Create Goa'uld player entity structure

Need to convert one of the factions player entity files into the Goa'uld (and perhaps do the other races as well while we're at it) so that we have the basic framework to start adding and associating content with the appropriate race entity.

Update the player portraits

The player portraits are of low quality, vary in size and placement. Improve their quality, save as tga, make them all the same size and align them the same.

Yarr pirates research be broken matey

This is likely just a annoying developer problem and I think it may actually be present in the stock game, but when changing races, errors are given when you cycle to the pirates. Seems it would be easy to prevent the gridpoint duplication by moving it to a new row, same column. All the items are in pos [ 1 , 0 ].

Pact Issues

Pacts - there is a lot going on in the pacts, missing strings, unaligned brushes, and unknown abilities, but aside from those issues, the game crashes when a pact is accepted.

Set ship research onlyWorksIfTierLabsExist to False

The ships (at least the Humans) have the onlyWorksIfTierLabsExist set to True, with exception of the Titan. If the ship is researched, it makes sense that you'd still be able to build it if you lost labs, so we should probably make it False.

Asuran_SpaceMine.entity is not being used. Please remove the file and then update the entity and String files.

Reference doesn't exist for Texture

This is a list of textures that don't appear to be referenced from a brush, mesh, etc, sort of the reverse of #19. In this case, we may be able to either delete these textures or add a proper reference to them. At the moment, this may skip files that reference these textures if the file is a binary. So if a compiled mesh references one of these textures, it wouldn't be detected.

But we should be able to look at this list and hopefully see things that pop out as possible errors or something we can remove. If you remove an unused texture, place it in our GD modding folder under ".../Assets/Textures/Unused Textures" in case we want to use it later or for some reason put it back.

SG1 Replicators as Pirates

The pirates will be replaced by the replicators from SG1 but currently they use Human ships only. For the change to happen we need the following:

1 Smart Material defining replicator blocks, possibly to be blended into existing ship textures.
1 Smart Material for the 5th replicator ship.
3 Replicator specific ships (5th capital ship, 5th cruiser, unique ship that appears in two of the episodes)

Asuran Structures Geometry Details & Texturing

Either build or find a high poly Atlantis model, convert the geometry details to Height and ColorID stamps for texturing. Affected ships and structures:

Human time dilation ability is OP

The Tau'ri time dilation effect that reduces hyperdrive speed of enemies is overpowered.
Issues:

Possible options:

  • Put it behind an artifact (Ancient Time Machine) unlocks certain time dilation technologies

  • Increase cooldown so it can't be spammed

  • Inbound hyperspace speed could be changed, but one problem was that the ships come in so slow that they have no support and can be picked off one at a time. It's not sure that changing the speed would alter that unless combined with a cooldown that balances it.

As a consideration, we may want to rethink using time dilation like this as I'm not sure it makes logical sense. It would make sense to me that it could speed up or slow down time (be it ship speed / cooldown / abilities / construction rate / etc) in that gravity well or for ships within a range of the effect. I'm trying to think of how it would project a time dilation outsize of the gravity well for any in-bound ship. Essentially, you could lock up large portions of an enemy's fleet in hyperspace while time flows normal in-game.

The Asuran Destiny high poly geometry details need to be prepared and converted to Height and ColorID stamps so that the relevant ships can be textured. Affected ships:
