๐Ÿ‘‘ THIS GAME IS CURRENTLY RUNNING v0.40.10 ๐Ÿบ

The many questionable rulers of Dwarf Fortress

These are the fragments collected from artifacts of the questionable rulers of great forts. Not everyone survived, but as far as our scientists can tell, everyone had !!FUN!!

Who is playing the current round?

What are The Rules?

We will operate on the assumption that we're not malicious. Anything that needs writing down should be written down here. This is basically our constitution.

  • Anything can change with a Pull Request
  • You have 1 - 2 weeks to complete your turn.
  • If you don't complete your turn within the upper time limit your turn is reverted and the next Overseer takes over where you started.
  • Every Overseer plays for one game year
  • The Overseer should name a dwarf after himself before passing the torch.
  • We have no idea what we are doing.
  • Make sure that the relevant sections of config match your game
  • Saved games use [16x16] CLA 0.40.x v16, no one cares what you use as long as the saves work 100%
  • Do not break the save raws with exotic tilesets
  • ๐Ÿป

What do I do on my turn?

Grab the latest save from the releases. The previous Overseer should have taken care of that, if not find them and yell at them.

Extract the save and put the save directory into your $DF_ROOT/data/save directory. Making any changes in paths that are required, as long as the next Overseer can follow these instructions without concern.

Create a branch with the first season of your turn in the appropriate World/Fort directory in the format year-sequence-month.md, where sequence increases as the year progresses, and month is just the name of the month as reported in the z menu. Push this branch right away, as you introduce yourself, and open a Pull Request

Commit early, commit often. As the seasons change create new year-sequence-month.md files, and keep us posted. Take a glance at sshirokov/df-tales or skalnik/df-tales for some examples.

The Pull Request you open will serve as your running dialog of your turn, and where everyone else can make fun of you. When it is merged, it signifies the end of your turn, and the last few commits should update any relevant documents to reflect that.

Armok is who again?

These are stories from playing Fortress Mode in Dwarf Fortress a very detailed, free, world simulator.

For any given fort the README.md will describe the progressions of the Overseers of the fort, and any decisions that led to its creation.

df-bloodlines's Issues

Embark in "The Mythical Domain" - Year 125

This is a proposal to embark in The Mythical Domain

A world-gen save is in releases. (Download link)

It is like this

The world has a good number of places to embark that are Low Savagery, Medium Evil, and have metals, flux, soil, and a river.

I propose we embark with a completely stock set of dwarves, because we are not children or elves.

The Order of the Overseers

  1. @sshirokov - y.125
  2. @skalnik - y.126
  3. @drobati - y.127
  4. @sbryant - y.128
  5. @marmida - y.129

Set a time limit for turns

Let's set a time limit for each Overseer's turn, if only to inform potential participants as to the expected commitment of game time they'll need to meet. If the Overseer fails to wrap up in that time, we move on to the next and abandon the last Overseer's changes.

I haven't played DF in a couple years, but off the top of my head, a week sounds reasonable. Or was that only reasonable when you're staying up until 4 AM, micromanaging the production of wooden beds? I don't know.

Once we agree, modify the Readme.

DF 40.08 is out.

I can (and most likely will) upgrade the save to DF 0.40.08 if the LNP, or a the very least, Dwarf Therapist is updated on my turn for OS X.

I have plenty of time left in my turn, and the turn around is pretty quick on the LNP releases.

I also can do the save upgrade for anyone else if I happen to not be able to wait that long if updating the tools take a while.
